Middlesbrough Town Hall is serving up a musical treat with three major acts heading to Teesside within days of each other, starting with the UK’s most successful funk band The Brand New Heavies on Friday 7 October.

The Heavies are heading out on the road to celebrate 20 years in the music business and they’re bringing their exciting live show to Middlesbrough for the first time in over 10 years. Expect to hear all the hits including, Midnight At The Oasis, Dream on Dreamer, You are the Universe and Never Stop.

On Sunday 9 October Glastonbury headliner Gruff Rhys brings his latest tour to Teesside for his only North East date. The gig follows a sold-out tour in February and the release of his heart-warming new album, Hotel Shampoo. Gruff will be joined on stage by North Wales’s instrumental surf rock quartet, Y Niwl

Rhys is most recognisable as lead singer of the critically acclaimed Welsh group Super Furry Animals, who are best known for their psychedelic rock and electronic experimentation. The band have released 9 studio albums, receiving a Mercury Music Prize nomination on the way, and had major hits with Hello Sunshine, Juxtapozed With U, Golden Retriever and (Drawing) Ring Around The World, amongst others.

Finishing the run off is Roddy Frame on Tues 11 Oct. Frame shot to prominence in the 80s as the founding member of Glasgow’s Brit Award nominated Aztec Camera. The line up changed over the years but Frame remained at the centre, writing and producing all of the bands material.  As Aztec Camera he created some of the biggest hits of the 80s and 90s including Oblivious, Still On Fire, Walk Out to Winter, Good Morning Britain (featuring The Clash guitarist Mick Jones) and their highest charting hit, Somewhere in My Heart.

Roddy continued to perform under the famous moniker until 1996 when he decided to move forward under his solo name. Since then he has released a string of widespread critically acclaimed albums. Frame will be heading to the Town Hall on as part of a nine-date UK tour, which sees him perform two dates at London’s Bush Hall. The tour is the first time the Scot has been out with a full band in over 10 years – so it’s going to a night to remember!
