There is an absolutely must-see gig at the Waiting Room this Sunday, Stanley Brinks, one half of the great Herman Dune is playing in the intimate setting. This should be one of the gigs of the year. Be warned book early.

Stanley Brinks is an innately musical traveller, and the unquestioned master of European Calypso. Before becoming Stanley Brinks (after an all night Jam session in Norway, which in turn led to the recording of his album "Jamaica Inn" in a nearby lighthouse) he was very well known as Andre Herman Dune - founding member of the exquisite beat combo - Herman Dune.

Stanley Brinks started out as a soprano sax player across Europe and New York and has interacted with musical influences thoughout countless countries. Most recently he has settled in Berlin. His recording of Bronski Beat's Small Town Boy was used in Channel 4's Skins.

Here he is doing something different in Norway Freschad started out when Andre Herman Dune wrote her some songs in Paris - she was homeless there after moving from the farm where she had grown up in French Burgundy. Here she is singing A Stranger In My Own Home on youtube

Says Luke from the Waiting Room “THIS WILL BE ONE OF OUR BEST EVER SHOWS - and Lord knows we've had some good shows... and as we're planning to take much of 2012 off you should snag an awesome night while you still can!”

From 7pm. Waiting Room Restaurant, Eaglescliffe. Tickets £10. from HERE

Luke also says, “We're inviting contributors to our Bob Dylan at 70 night on October 2nd... Drop us a line. And then it's an Opera of Flann O'Brien's Third Policeman on October 9th! Pheweee.”

I'll be writing a review pretty soon of a fab night last Sunday where Nathalie Stern and Sarabeth Tucek. How good were they? They fair charmed the audience. It was full and electric then so goodness knows what it will be like this Sunday.
