LEGENDARY band The White Negroes follow their festival-stealing show at Middlesbrough Intro with a headline appearance at Willowman Festival.

The group once again confirmed their status as the best live band Teesside has ever produced with a storming set on the festival's Fly Me To The Moon Stage.

Now the band are bringing their full horn section for their second-stage headlining set at Willowman next weekend alongside Top Loader and Alabama 3.

Band spokesman ‘Sweet’ Dick Funk said: “The Square 1 venue was packed and the band blew everyone away.

"People were saying the White Negroes were the best band they had seen on the day and the landlord was so impressed he booked them to return on the spot!

"Now the lads are looking forward to bringing their horn section along for a soul-stiring set at Willowman. Don't miss it!"

The controversial group - named after Norman Mailer’s seminal 50s beat essay - have been described as ‘stadium rock in a workingmen’s club’ and ‘like U2 on glue!’

In their two decades together the notorious band have drunk The Stranglers’ entire rider backstage at the Newcastle Heineken Music Festival, broke into the film set of the children’s TV show Teletubbies and put the head of Parlophone A&R in a ‘whitey’ when he came to sign them.

The White Negroes play Willowman Festival Saturday June 18.
