The much talked about Willowman Festival returns as the place to be for the Summer Solstice weekend.  “The Festival of Cool” will be held on the 16th - 19th June 2011 at Lenthor Farm, the home of  “Sentry Circle”. Situated on the A684 in the heart of North Yorkshire between Osmotherley and Brompton Northallerton the Willowman festival boasts panoramic views with a fun family friendly atmosphere. There will be lots to see and do for all the family with a large children’s area, plenty of quality Trade Stalls, international food stalls and a healing area offering everything from Indian Head massage to Reiki.

The festival offers an eclectic mix of music to satisfy all tastes both young and old.

On Friday night Space rockers and ex Gong members "Here and Now" will be performing on the main stage prior to Steve Hillage's, (another former Gong member) legendary dance act "System 7". Launching the festival audience into intergalactic space travel for the weekend. Supported by Bishop Auckland Goth Rockers “Winter in Eden” a band with immense anthemic songs, they will be setting the standards of what is to come for the rest of the weekend. Also on Friday Sunderland based band Black Sun promise to give the crowd some hard-edged indie rock. Performing their style of modern Ceilidh music on the second stage Tyneside based The Monster Ceilidh Band. Also on the second stage will be “Endless Knot” displaying their blend of Fiddle, Flute Celtic folk, reggae and roots dance knees ups..

Special guest for the 2nd stage, former “Young Ones” and “Bottom” TV star  “Aid Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds” will be headlining, performance not to be missed Vivian!

On Friday and Saturday evening “Hedfone Party” will be present in the Reggae tent allowing everybody a chance to dance to two channels of music without any noise in the tent, thus appeasing the neighbours, featuring “Instrument of Jah Reggae Sound System” on one channel and DJ’s Prognosis and Dan Fantoni on the other channel.

On Saturday main stage The Middens from Durham will kick off the days proceedings. Although young in their years this band have recently signed to SJM for a six figure sum and all the major record companies are lined at every gig trying to sign them!! One to watch for the future. Teeside based band “Be Quiet, Shout Loud” promise to have you all jumping around on Saturday afternoon along with Chased by Wolves a Northern band ready to break it big style.

Part of our “Hartlepool School of Cool”  “Mercedes” will be appearing on the main stage while “White Negroes” will headline the live section on the second stage. Supported by “NEEB”  “, There’s a real strong music scene in Hartlepool, perhaps it could be the next big Pool” quotes Steve Williams Festival Organiser.

We see a welcome a return visit from “Subsource” on the main stage for Saturday who with yet another new album are destined for mega stardom in 2011

For all the late night revellers DJ favourite “Banco de Gaia” will be supplying dance and ambient beats on the second stage till the early hours of the morning. The main stage headline band on Saturday night are Alabama 3 a festival favourite, remember The Soprano’s theme music!

“The New York all Stars” will be performing on Saturday afternoon featuring Elliott Randall from Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers and a host of sessions for people like Stevie Wonder. Elliott’s unique guitar sound has moulded and inspired other guitar greats such as Jimmy Page who claims that “Reelin’ in the Years” is his favourite guitar solo of all times. Elliott Randall also played the guitar solo on Fame the massive disco and movie sound track.  Joining Elliott on Keyboards and boogie woogie Piano will be Dave Keyes, side kick to such artists as Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and currently with Ronnie Specter, ex wife of the infamous Phil Specter. Dave is a star in his own rite also becoming the Musical Director for Smokey Jo’s Café and taking onto Broadway for a run of several years. Dave is a great all round entertainer and frequently appears all over New York, Europe and now The Willowman Festival.

Sunday, Folk, Roots, Reggae with recently noted Goldheart Assembly who’s vocal harmonies are likened to the West Coast Californian scene and have great songs with a hint of CSNY currently featured on BBC6 play lists. Also just confirmed Sparrow and the Workshop, fantastic female vocals and sound scapes from afar, they should add a whole new dimension to the day. Selector’s very own “Pauline Black” and her magnificent Ska band will be whipping up a frenzy ready for the evenings headliners.  Supported by local songstress, Elaine Palmer.  Nick Harper, son of the legendary Roy Harper is also appearing on the second stage.

SUBGIANT, dance trance and rave live band will be rocking on Sunday evening, bringing the second stage to a close.

Easy Star all Stars, legendary New York reggae collective, whose cult reggae version of “Dark Side of the Moon” cleverly reworked and re titled “Dub Side of the Moon” catapulted them onto the worlds stage some years ago and are a must for a Solstice Weekend. They have also covered Radiohead’s OK Radio, Radio Dub along with Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Dub Band. Latest additions “Goldheart Assembly” who’s new single is getting major air play on BBC6.

To round off the Willowman Festival on Sunday, chart toppers "Toploader" will be appearing on Saturday night, moved forward from Sunday due to a TV commitment. More on the TV show to come later.  With a new album and single released in April 2011 they are back in the moonlight again. On Summer Solstice who better to be "Dancing in the Moonlight" with.
