On Sunday fmttm presents the Square One stage at Middlesbrough’s Intro festival.

While the urban sounds are lurking in the long grass by MIMA we are presenting some of the more angular, post post punk outfits that don’t fit perfectly into any of the packaging and name games.

Things kick off at our stage at 2.30pm – so you could already have watched a couple of bands out around the town. Cattle and Cane at 12.30 has to be a must for the early birds – at the Empire. Where you might like to return to in early evening to view the awesome Clinic at 6.10pm.

Then again you could stay put at Square One all day and not go short of great sounds and lyrics that mean something other than do-ray-me.

Here’s the full run down of our bill of bands at the fmttm stage, Square One.

Second band on at 3.30pm is The Young Hegelians – I will give you a few details about these cerebral fellas later on today. Just to say that the lyrics as well as the tunes will keep you on your toes.

Next it is The Port Authority at 4.30pm, you are probably able to see a pattern now with the times, fronted by former Mooch and Spadger honcho Dan Angus

The Port Authority will lay down the law and the rule book to ensure we all stick to the time table.

An hour later (5.30pm) comes Hartlepool super strength White Negroes, flying at you from all angles and proving that the best things in life mature with the years rather than go to pot. Did I say that? Their rendition of Addicted To Love knocks Florence and the Machine into a cocked hat.

Talking of evergreens at 6.40pm we have post post post punksters Pellethead are just back from Prague and getting better and better. A couple of years ago they were asked to headline the Homegrown stage, they’ve not outgrown it and will pack out Square One, that is for sure.

That just leaves the way forward for Shrug at 7.50pm to clear the decks. For a quarter century and counting Shrug have been performing riotous shows at home and abroad. This time last year the band with the running man and horses head mask were rampaging through the Netherlands. Now they are being asked to bring down the curtain on a fine day at the fmttm stage, Square One. See you there.

Please note - Accompanied children are welcome at this stage until 7pm.
