Teesside musician William K.J. Anderson is looking forward to bringing a spot of Premier League magic to Middlesbrough’s Intro Festival this Sunday (5 June).

William from Skelton, and former DARTZ! bandmates Philip Maughan from Marske and Henry Carden from Guisborough co-wrote the theme music used for ESPN and Sky Sports hugely popular Barclays Premier League Review, Barclays Premier League Preview and Barclays Premier League World shows.

And, even though they split up 18 months ago, the band have also recently had their music used on adverts for Microsoft Bing, Comedy Central and Honda, plus TV shows including Skins, Location Location Location and the Big Brother Awards Show.

But it’s the Premier League Shows picking up huge audiences in the UK and worldwide everywhere from Malaysia, Australia and the USA that are sparking attention from DARTZ! fans all over the world.

The theme - an instrumental version of the bands most well known song ‘Once, twice, again,’ - has seen a flurry of people getting in touch from all corners of the globe, including:

  • Kevin Bennett, originally from Hartlepool but currently living in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, wrote on the band's Facebook page saying: "Just heard you guys playing over the credits of a TV show about English football shown on Chinese TV."

  • Brad Jones, originally from Marske, contacted the lads to say: "I'm living in Tanzania and they show it on a South African Sports channel over here!"

  • Louis Garbutt, originally from Middlesbrough but currently living in Bellingham, Washington, USA, got in touch to say: "I watch the Premier League Review every week on TV over here and hearing DARTZ! reminds me of home!"

William, who is playing a solo show on the Cosmos Stage at Middlesbrough’s Intro Festival this Sunday said: “It's been pretty amazing having one of our songs featured on the football highlights.

“It wasn't really what we had in mind when we wrote the song but it works really well - and it's absolutely mind-boggling to see moments like Wayne Rooney's incredible bicycle kick against Man City soundtracked by our music!”

This year’s Intro line-up of almost 100 acts across a dozen stages right in the heart of the town centre includes big-hitters Example, Feeder, Chipmunk, Wretch 32, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, former Specials frontman Neville Staple, and huge indie faves Jon Fratelli, Darwin Deez and Miles Kane to name just a few.
