For the very first time fmttm proudly puts its name to a stage at next weekend’s live music extravaganza, Intro. With the end of the play offs it is now officially the close(d) season and football gives way for music this Sunday at Middlesbrough’s Intro Festival. We will be there in Square One pub bringing you some of the most distinctive and distinguished sounds from Teesside. Kick off 2.30pm.

Formerly known as Middlesbrough Music Live this festival has in the past “introduced” fledgling acts that have gone on to be household names such as Keane and Kaiser Chiefs. Who will be the next Kaiser Chiefs to bounce forward from this Sunday’s mega bill? Could they come from our stage?

Starting today well do a little profile on all six acts playing the fmttm Square One stage so you are fully up to speed on what is happening. And unlike Evolution Festival on Tyneside you don’t need a smart phone app to feel part of things and know exactly what is happening.

First up a line about Square One which many of you will know as a popular pre and post match watering hole, opposite the Thistle Hotel in Gurney Street. Now for a quick run down of the bill for Sunday 5th June.

The live music kicks off at 2.30pm with a brand new act called The Approved. I don’t want to say to much about this duo at the moment but if you can keep it under your hat they could well be one of the surprise packages of the whole festival. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink once described himself by using his very own word “explosivity.” I will say no more for now.

Second band on at 3.30pm is The Young Hegelians – I will give you a few details about these cerebral fellas later on today. Just to say that the lyrics as well as the tunes will keep you on your toes.

Next it is The Port Authority at 4.30pm, you are probably able to see a pattern now with the times, fronted by former Mooch and Spadger honcho Dan Angus

The Port Authority will lay down the law and the rule book to ensure we all stick to the time table.

An hour later (5.30pm) comes Hartlepool super strength White Negroes, flying at you from all angles and proving that the best things in life mature with the years rather than go to pot. Did I say that? Their rendition of Addicted To Love knocks Florence and the Machine into a cocked hat.

Talking of evergreens at 6.40pm we have post post post punksters Pellethead are just back from Prague and getting better and better. A couple of years ago they were asked to headline the Homegrown stage, they’ve not outgrown it and will pack out Square One, that is for sure.

That just leaves the way forward for Shrug at 7.50pm to clear the decks. For a quarter century and counting Shrug have been performing riotous shows at home and abroad. This time last year the band with the running man and horses head mask were rampaging through the Netherlands. Now they are being asked to bring down the curtain on a fine day at the fmttm stage, Square One. See you there.

Please note - Accompanied children are welcome at this stage until 7pm.

Intro tickets were £15 the last we heard. You can get them from HMV in The Mall or the Town Hall booking office or online at seetickets and ticketweb. But note they are not planning on selling tickets on the day itself. £15 for a full day of music and more stages than you can see in a month of Sundays if you stood them end to end. What are you waiting for?

For all further details including parking, map and running order on all stages and there are absolutely loads of them, please look at the official festival website - http://www.introfestival.co.uk/
