They’ve sold out the grand Albert Hall on no less than three occasions. They’ve headlined major festivals from Glastonbury to WOMAD and played all over the world, from Europe to America, Australia and India. And on Saturday 20 November West Country folk luminaries, Show of Hands, are coming to ARC.

The 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners for Best Live Act have built a huge following for their inimitable music which crosses from folk roots into blues, rock, country, trad and world. It is played out on an array of instruments from slide guitar to fiddle, mandolin to South American cuatro.

Singer songwriter Steve Knightley and multi instrumentalist Phil Beer won both the Best Duo title and Best Original Song at the 2010 Awards - the latter for the topical title track of their acclaimed new studio album Arrogance Ignorance and Greed. Accompanied by striking double bass player and vocalist Miranda Sykes, England’s finest acoustic roots act will be showcasing the album and delving into their rich back catalogue of original material.

Their first album, Live 92 was recorded live at Dorset’s Bull Hotel in Bridport and the excellent reviews that ensued helped them break into the festival circuit. After their first studio album Beat About the Bush Show of Hands released Lie of the Land in 95 which Q Magazine declared “startlingly good” making it their folk album of the year. Having released their award winning album Arrogance Ignorance and Greed Show of Hands are now embarking on a 37 date UK tour to satisfy their huge fan base, with a repertoire of songs that continues to evade music genre.
