Matt Schofield will be making a stop in the North East following an extensive world tour, when he comes to ARC on Thursday 11 November.

Landing comfortably in Guitar & Bass Magazine’s Top Ten Greatest British Bluesmen of all Time, along with influential guitarists Eric Clapton and Peter Green, Matt Schofield is widely recognized as one of the most distinctive and innovative guitarists to have emerged on the world scene for several generations.

The Trio, Live was Schofield’s low budget eight-track taster of things to come, eliciting high praise along with airplay on both sides of the Atlantic and a BBC Radio 2 live session.

His two subsequent album releases Siftin' Thru Ashes (2005) and Ear To The Ground (2007) were hard to pigeon-hole, as Schofield delivered a powerful mix of Blues and New Orleans funk unlike anything else on the block.

In May 2009 Schofield added a bass player to the mix for the first time, for an album that was to home in more on blues. Heads, Tails & Aces moved away from the diffused instrumental funk tracks that characterized previous albums and replaced them with an entirely song-based repertoire.

In his relatively short career Schofield’s dexterity as a blues guitarist has taken him from touring India with British Blues Diva and David Bowie prodigy Dana Gillespie, to touring with his band in no less than twelve countries.

He has played with iconic guitarists like Robben Ford; and is one of only two living British artists in recording history to gain a maximum four-star rating in the Penguin Book of Blues Recordings.

Following a world-wide tour that will take him and his band all across the USA, Indonesia, Holland, Italy and Germany, Matt Schofield will be landing on the sunny shores of England for a UK tour that commences in November. Given that this affluent and unique talent seems to have a tendency to hop from one country to another with his band, Teesside fans do well to catch him when he comes to ARC before he’s off again!

“Another level altogether.” Mojo

Matt Schofield performs at ARC Thur 11 Nov at 8pm. Tickets are priced F: £12 and can be purchased from ARC Box Office on 01642 525199 or
