Quirky, unique and uncompromisingly a capella group, The Magnets have the stage all set for their performance at ARC on Tuesday 28 September.

After lining up along stage at nationwide music festivals and appearing on national radio, the band members Nicolas Doodson, Michael Welton, James Fortune, Andrew Frost, Stephen Trowell and Derek Elroy, are taking their hit Edinburgh show on the road.

Forming when they met at University College, London, the six-man arrangement have supported Tom Jones on tour, sung at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Jubilee, and offered more intimate performances, serenading Elle Macpherson in her front room on no less than eight occasions!

The Magnets are clearly in high demand, doing the rounds in an increasingly expanding festival circuit including Scottish Royal Variety Show, Glastonbury Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, Belfast International Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival.

From Joy Division to the Scissor Sisters, every iconic song is fair game for their show Gobsmacked! An all vocal remix is accompanied by vocal percussionist Andy ‘Ice Man’ Frost, whose beatbox solo will have jaws on the floor.

After winning the Forth FM Pick of the Edinburgh Fringe and earning several Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards (CARAs), The Magnets came under the radar of national radio, recently appearing on Radio 1’s Scott Mills Show, with a repertoire that covered Lady Ga Ga’s Poker Face, Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer and a 26 mega medley of songs from artists AC/DC to The Zutons.
