Led by siblings Helen and Joe Hammill, folk-pop band Cattle & Cane embarked on their biggest ever headline show when they collaborated with the Northern Orchestra for a special one-off performance at the newly renovated Middlesbrough Town Hall on June 8th 2018.

“Having the opportunity to headline Middlesbrough Town Hall, especially alongside an orchestra, was genuinely a dream come true for us” said Helen. “We’re so lucky to have such a supportive fanbase and we’re constantly blown away by the amazing crowds we get across the country – there really is no better feeling than hearing people sing your songs back at you” she added.

Film-maker Jodie Canwell (Michael Kiwunaka, Amber Run, Lucy Rose) was on hand to capture the concert and 'Love On Your Hands' is the first video to be shared from the show ahead of a live EP release in 2019.

The band are back out on the road this December (although these dates are as a four piece rather than with an orchestra!):

Support slots with Brian Wilson, Tom Odell, Nerina Pallot and The Head and The Heart have helped Cattle & Cane build on their loyal and passionate following – a fan-base that propelled sophomore album ‘Mirrors’ into the top 20 of the Official UK Independent Album Chart last year thanks, in part, to a successful PledgeMusic campaign which reached an impressive 280% of its target.

Elton John declared his love for ‘Mirrors’ opener ‘Love On Your Hands‘ on Beats 1 and ‘7 Hours’ picked up numerous radio-plays from long time champion Dermot O’Leary, who previously showcased the band on his ‘Saturday Sessions’ compilation following a live session on BBC Radio 2. Additional airplay came from the likes of Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 Music, Gary Crowley on BBC London and John Kennedy on Radio X, to name but a few.

The lyrics to Teesside anthem 'Infant Hercules' feature on the home shirts for Middlesbrough FC this season and over on Spotify, ‘7 Hours’ passed the 2 million streams milestone while ‘Love On Your Hands’ featured on the prestigious New Music Friday UK playlist. Tracks from Mirrors also featured on Vintage TV, the BT TV music playlist, Sunday Brunch, Made In Chelsea and The Only Way Is Essex.

With extensive support from BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and Amazing Radio, Cattle & Cane have also been heavily championed by the BBC Introducing team and previously performed on their stages at T In The Park and BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park.

Cattle & Cane have also appeared at acclaimed tastemaker events such as Canadian Music Week, Reeperbahn Festival, Live At Leeds, Liverpool Sound City and Evolution Emerging, as well as at some of the UK’s finest boutique and inner city festivals including Cornbury, Deer Shed, Liverpool Sound City, Black Deer, Tramlines, Twisterella,Stockton Calling and Bingley Music Live.
