Come and join me tomorrow morning on a walk of discovery at Marton to mark the 250th anniversary of Cook embarking on his first great voyage of discovery and it is also the Birthplace Museum’s 40th birthday.

Join Jenny Philips, Gill Moore and Rob (me) at the museum to learn more about the history of the lost village of East Marton. There will be a short and steady stroll around the park and taking a short and into the village of West Marton to discover more about the buildings and history of this area.

We will look at where Cook was born and also see where he was baptised and think about what Marton was like at the time of the young James Cook's birth in the early 18th century.
We will finish back at the museum for 12 where visitors will be free to use Cooks Café for lunch if they would like.
Tickets are £4 per adult or free with an Explorer Pass.

Incidentally tonight we are all off to Hexham Abbey for the North East Culture Awards where the Cook Birthplace Museum has been nominated for an award as museum of the year. Also representing Teesside is Stockton Calling nominated in the Best Event, Teesside.
