Teesside’s most popular comedy club gets the bank holiday weekend started on a high-note, with Matt Reed as host and another killer line-up in tow.

Matt Reed

Matt Reed’s improv skills have seen him sell-out 2 of his solo shows in the past year alone, with another in the pipeline. As cheeky as he is brutal, Matt has the ability to entertain the crowd while skilfully destroying any heckler that crosses his path – which is why local comedy fans just keep coming back for more!

The charismatic Steve Shankyaski made it through to the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedian of the Year just six months after starting his comedy career. Since then, his surreal but highly relatable observations have earned him titles like the Holsten Pils Comedian of the Year and the Birmingham Comedy Festival’s Best. He’s a long established comedy club headliner, regularly closing at top comedy clubs including Jongleurs, The Glee Club, The Frog and Bucket and Catch 22 – obviously!
TV presenter, actor and stand-up character comedian Milo McCabe has been nominated for the Amused Moose Best Edinburgh show award, not once, but twice. He’s also been listed as GQ's Top Ten shows of the festival in previous years. In 2016 – his Edinburgh Fringe show as the debonair, dandified, 1930s gent Troy Hawke, garnered a number of 4 star reviews.

You might have seen him on ITV's Benidorm or BBC3's Live at the Electric to name a few. Milo takes his characters very seriously. He once famously thwarted a (real) shoplifter while filming a hidden camera show dressed in the smoking jacket of his rakish alter-ego, without even the tiniest hint of breaking character – skills!

Graham Ramsay of promoters Ten Feet Tall, who co-promote Catch 22 alongside ARC, said:

“What better way to get the Easter weekend ball rolling than with some of the best comedians on the circuit!

We’ve worked with Steve Shanyaski for years now, and he never fails to deliver. He’s warm and engaging, and always has the audience in stitches.

And with Milo you never know what you’re going to get – which alter-ego is he going to arrive as? Who knows what we’re going to get – it’ll be a surprise well worth looking forward to anyway!

The same with Matt - you never know what you’re going to get. I mean you know he’s coming as himself, you just don’t know what’s going to come out of his mouth. Not sure he does either!”

Friday 30th March: Catch 22 Comedy Club. ARC, Stockton. Starring Steve Shanyaski, Milo McCabe & MC Matt Reed. 8pm. £10 / £12.
