The organisers of Stockton Calling are pleased to announce a further two headliners for the ninth edition of the festival, taking place on Saturday 31st March.

Following the release of their latest epic album, Open Here, The Georgian Theatre stage will be headlined by Sunderland’s Mercury Prize nominated Field Music; a northern band with an international reputation.

Field Music – consisting of brothers Peter and David Brewis and a rotating cast of stellar musicians – draw on influences as wide-ranging as Stravinsky, Stax R&B, Fleetwood Mac, Serge Gainsbourg, Thelonious Monk and Kate Bush. Field Music's sound is like all of the pop music you've ever heard but with a distinctly British, and north-eastern tinge. They've become known for a deconstructionist approach to songwriting, playfully twisting compositions into new and odd shapes, with a refreshing disregard for convention and cliché.

Paul Burns, co-organiser of the festival, said:

“We can’t wait to see Field Music perform in Stockton again. They’re a world-class band from just up the A19 and when we found out they were available to play, we had to book them. They’re an incredible act that complements and enhances the already brilliant line-up we’ve announced so far.”
2018 sees Room 21 re-join the Stockton Calling venues roster and topping the bill are Watford rebels The Spitfires.

Spitfires

The Spitfires might not see themselves as a political band, but their kitchen-sink dramas of disillusionment with modern society speak for themselves, and for the countless young people around the world who feel their voices and struggles are not being heard. Taking influences from the likes of The Clash, Billy Bragg and The Jam through to Soul, Reggae and Ska, the band have released two albums to date and have a strong following on Teesside.

The following venues will all have stages at this year’s event: ARC, The Georgian Theatre, Ku, The Storytellers, The Green Room, Room 21, Musiclounge, Whole Latte Love, and The Vault. Pop-up stages to be confirmed at a later date.

Stockton Calling is the north east’s premier metropolitan music festival and will return for its ninth edition on Saturday 31st March 2018.
Stockton Calling has made a name for itself over the years by bringing some of the country’s most established names, the brightest national rising stars and the best regional acts together for an amazing day of live music.
