One of the many highlights of Middlesbrough Music Live 2009 was the performance of Homegrown talent Idiot Savant. Oh how their followers caroused to Jimmy Saville.

The rain stayed away and the sun even came peeped out to shine down on the 10th and possibly most successful yet Middlesbrough Music Live. There were an estimated 50 000 folk wandering around 11 live music stages, drinking in the atmosphere and the superb sounds.

The festival is all about promoting new emerging talent. In the past bands like The Kaiser Chiefs and Keane have feature here before hitting the heights shortly afterwards. Who will become the stars of the future from this year’s line up?

The great thing about a festival with so many stages is everyone’s agenda is different and everyone’s highlights will be there own. For me the wall tow all sonic tremors of Chapman Family took some beating. The Future of the Left heavy riffage and light witt-age was very welcome. Idiot Savant were mighty impressive on the homegrown stage.

I shot a short video of the Dan and the lads crooning through Jimmy Saville. The crowd swaying in time to the jingle jangle, jewellery mood. I believe some of these Savant followers may be students of Acklam Grange school.

It was a great day, can’t wait for the Stockton Riverside now.
