The final wave of acts has been announced for Twisterella Festival, a new multi-venue music event and conference taking place in Middlesbrough this Autumn. Created by Teesside’s most dynamic and forward thinking independent music promoters, The Kids Are Solid Gold and Pay for the Piano, Twisterella will be based around the Southfield Road/Linthorpe Road area of Middlesbrough town centre on Saturday 11th October 2014.

The latest announcement sees Prides, Sivu, Menace Beach, Heyrocco, Longfellow, Solareye, Palace and James Kruman joining previously announced acts Eliza and the Bear, Cattle & Cane, Sweet Baboo, Jake Isaac, Laurel, The Hosts, Brontide, Happyness, Bad Breeding, Dancing Years, Lovepark, Stanley Odd and many more at the 1000 capacity festival.

Glaswegian electro-pop trio Prides head to Twisterella off the back of performing live at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, being announced as one of the headliners on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading & Leeds and playing alongside Blink 182 at a huge sold-out London show. Their brand new single “I Should Know You Better” is released on 29th September and has already been getting plenty of airplay on Radio 1. Atlantic Records signing Sivu recently toured with London Grammar and has picked up plenty of support across Radio 1, 6Music and XFM. Having finished runner-up to Banks in the Blog Sound of 2014 poll, Sivu’s debut album will be released on 5th October.

Hotly tipped Leeds based fuzz-pop band Menace Beach boast a revolving cast of Yorkshire luminaries in their line up, including MJ of Hookworms on lead guitar, Nestor Matthews of Sky Larkin on drums, Robert Lee of Pulled Apart By Horses on guitar, Matt Spalding on bass and, very occasionally, Paul Draper (ex-Mansun) on guitar and back up vocals. South Carolina’s Heyrocco will be bringing their blistering indie-grunge to Middlesbrough all the way from the USA, while London based indie quintet Longfellow will be adding some epic, melodically charged alt-pop to the proceedings.

The promoters involved in Twisterella both have a long history of bringing breaking acts to the region, having previously secured Middlesbrough shows from the likes of Mumford & Sons, The Vaccines, The 1975, Palma Violets, Frank Turner, First Aid Kit, Dry The River, Daughter, Drenge, Wolf Alice, Keaton Henson and many more earlier in their careers.

“We’re bringing the very best in emerging and breakthrough acts to Middlesbrough for Twisterella and we’re confident that your new favourite band will be among them,” said festival co-director Henry Carden. Fellow festival co-director Andy Carr added, “We’re proud to be creating a vibrant, sustainable event that is 100% designed, made and serviced on Teesside. We couldn’t be happier with the line up and we’re absolutely delighted to be bringing so many superb acts to our town.”

Twisterella will utilise well established music venues such as Teesside University Students’ Union, The Keys, Westgarth Social Club and Liberty’s, with an acoustic stage planned for TSOne. Tickets are on-sale now priced at £15(+ booking fee) and are available locally from The Olde Young Tea House and The Westgarth Social Club, as well as online at, Ticketweb and Ticketscript. Age restriction: 18+.
