The first wave of acts has been announced for a new multi-venue music event and music conference taking place in Middlesbrough on Saturday 11th October. Twisterella Festival will feature some of the brightest emerging national and international talent and give a platform to a select number of local and regional acts who are ready to make the step up to the big stage.

One of the most exciting events for many a half moon to take place in Middlesbrough, Twisterella is the conjoining of two of the most passionate and forward thinking promoters on Teesside today, TheKidsAreSolidGold and PayforthePiano. These are promoters who programme from the heart and with so much knowledge and know how you can trust their picks without even road testing the bands or their songs first on your device. The kind of promoters that audiences and bands go that extra one or one hundred miles for. You can actually do just that when TKASG programme the Good Mixer stage at Camden Crawl this summer on 20 and 21st June.

Acts confirmed so far include hotly tipped stars in waiting Eliza and the Bear, Jake Isaac, Law, Lovepark and Laurel. They’ll be joined by 6 Music favourites Happyness, Night Flowers and The Hosts, as well as NME Radar ‘Ones to Watch’ Bad Breeding and Psyence. Recent Foals tour support act That F***ing Tank will be travelling up from Leeds and fresh from a Norwegian tour and an exclusive song-writing session with Sir Paul McCartney, Teesside indie-pop heroes Collectors Club lead the way for regional acts. They’ll be joined by The TapestryWoodenbox, Stanley Odd, Weird Shapes, Suntrapp, Lilliput and Littlemores, with the promise of many more acts to be announced in the coming months.

Twisterella Festival is the creation of Middlesbrough’s most dynamic and forward thinking independent music promoters, The Kids Are Solid Gold and Pay for the Piano. The 1000 capacity festival will utilise well established music venues such as Teesside University Students’ Union, The Keys, Westgarth Social Club and Liberty’s, with an acoustic stage in TS One.

Festival co-director Andy Carr said, “We’re really pleased with the acts we’ve confirmed so far. Some of them might not quite yet be household names, but Twisterella is about the brightest emerging talent and we’re confident your new favourite band will be playing at the festival.“

Festival co-director Henry Carden added, “Andy & I have a great track record of booking breaking bands, with the likes of The Vaccines, Mumford and Sons and The 1975 playing for us on their rise to the top and we’re grateful to the Teesside public for placing their trust in our choices.”

In addition to the live acts, Twisterella will feature an Unconference with the focus on bringing key music industry figures to the town to share their expertise and offer advice to new and developing Teesside musicians.
