“Scunthorpe’s finest export ever” (Q Magazine) is undoubtedly one of the UK’s most talented singer-songwriters and we literally cannot wait to welcome him with open arms to Uncle Alberts.
He’s toured with everybody from Travis to Oasis to Elbow to KT Tunstall to Keane, he’s collaborated with Badly Drawn Boy, Fountains Of Wayne and Smashing Pumpkins and he plays bass for Alex “Arctic Monkeys” Turner’s Last Shadow Puppets. Credentials, yeah?
Oh, his song “Run” is also the theme tune to some programme called Gavin and Stacey… you might have heard of it.
Influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley, Fretwell’s songs are delicately crafted and heartfelt and result in a wonderful sound that could be described as a mixture of Ryan Adams and Nick Drake.
