18 places up for grabs at Middlesbrough Music Live

The search is still on for some of the best local bands to make their mark at Middlesbrough Music Live this year - with around 18 places up for grabs at two dedicated local band stages in the Town Centre.

Organised by Middlesbrough Council in partnership with local promoters Ten Feet Tall, MML attracted over 47,000 people last year and is now firmly established as one of the freshest and best-respected free festivals in the country.

Top indie favourites The Zutons have already been confirmed as headliners for this year’s 10th anniversary event on Sunday June 7

Now; MML organisers are asking all local bands who would like to be considered for this year’s line-up to get in touch before next weeks deadline of 22 April.

Phil Saunders of Ten Feet Tall said: “We’ve got some great bands in and around the Tees Valley, they always play a big part at Music Live, and we want to make sure we have the best and freshest bands around.

“So we’re asking any bands who’d like to play to get in touch on our online forum and post up a link to their myspace pages.

“And it’s not just the bands who end up playing on the day itself who’ll benefit from Music Live.  We’re also compiling a database of every original band in the Tees Valley, and we’ll be launching the database as a web portal before the festival to enable promoters, bands, fans, A&R scouts and anybody else who’s interested to find out more information on the wonderful bands we have on our own doorsteps.

“We’ll be cranking up some big speakers in our offices here and giving everything a really good listen. There’ll be around six people listening to what comes in, with people who like all kinds of different music, so we’re completely open-minded on what to expect.

“So get clicking and get your link posted. We’ve had stacks of bands in touch already, every local band link we get will be listened to, and that’ll help decide who plays the local band stages this year.”
