What an amazing week it has been. On the back of a disappointing and unexpected home defeat by Blackpool, Dazza’s Toon Army have responded in true determined Geordie fashion by going on to beat Everton away and dump Chelsea out of the Carling Cup to silence our critics at the same time....not a bad week really!!!

Oh yes baby, the Toon rollercoaster took a severe turn upwards so fast I dropped my ice cream all over like the fat kid on Jim’ll Fix it some years ago. Hold onto your heart monitors because Dazza is back, buzzing and ready for my return to the booth for our first Fanzone game of the season against Stoke City at St James Park.

So let’s have a quick look at the week since my last blog. The Toon Army went to Everton licking our wounds after a bad home defeat to Blackpool. I honestly would have been happy with a draw however Chris Hughton’s black and white army exceeded even my my expectations by grabbing a fantastic win against the Toffees in which new boy Hatem Ben Arfa launched a missile like shot to win the game and cap a belting performance. Perhaps you could call Ben Arfa’s goal a “Hatem Bomb” (genius eh. how I’m not a headline writer I while never know)

On the back of the great win at shell suit wearing Goodison Park, we had to “calm down”, make another packed lunch and off we popped further sarf (thats cockney for South) to Stamford Bridge to take on the shandy drinkers that are Chelsea.

Now, let’s be honest I didn’t expect to win here either but what a tremendous game and result for the Magpies. Yeah yeah yeah Chelsea may have fielded their reserve team but I think you will find we did also. In fact we probably made just as many changes if not more than they did so that tells you how well we did. Matt Le Tissier quoted this as “The best reserve game he had ever seen”....yes Matt, but we put out our reserves too as
in form players such as Joey Barton, Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan and Hatem Ben Arfa were all named on the bench for the juicy cup game. Note to Monsieur Wenger for the next round....watch out my little French face ache, if we can do Chelsea at the bridge then the Toon may just have you hopping out of SJP and back down the A1.

Let’s not get carried away here, I’m not a “deluded Geordie” here and still believe we have a tough season ahead, but howay man doesn’t our recent performances deserve some credit?...wins against Aston Villa, Everton and Chelsea don’t come easy, especially when you consider the likes of Sunderland fielded their strongest side in the cup against lowly West Ham and got spanked.

I’m fairly sure what Chris Hughton’s starting line up will be for the Stoke game, however impressive midweek performances from the likes of Ryan Taylor and Shola Ameobi must be giving Hughton happy selection problems.

Prediction Time: Newcastle 3 Stoke 1. With Stoke being poor away coupled with us being in form and having confidence from the last 2 games I think our winning ways will return to SJP. Hopefully stand in keeper Tim Krul will rise to the challenge of his first Premier League start as he deputises for the unluckily injured super Stevie Harper.

To end, Newcastle should win again and keep our rightful place of being the highest placed North East team, whilst our neighbours Sunderland who appear unable to find any beach balls, continue to blame referees and bail players out of police stations. Looking down the leagues even further Gordon “Jimmy Kranky” Strachan’s chemical riddled Middlesbrough appear to plunging deeper than a BP Oil Rig repair drill....unlucky boys mwhahahahahahahaha!!!!

Come on you black and whites out there, tune in, support and enjoy Dazza on Fanzone live on Sky Sports.......TOON ARMY!!!!
