I have to admit to a dark secret immediately before writing about the revelations that seem to be coming from Mr Owen, about his love of our club, our region, everything really on his time , or lack it, rather up here.

I, as is usually the case, was totally wrong about the Blessed Michael.  I was one of the 20, 000 – aye, 20,OOO – who managed to find time to get in the Leazes the day of his arrival. I took my eldest daughter, our Claire, into the city, and advised her that this was probably the biggest day of NUFC life since Big Al had came just a decade back.

Aye. Total egg on the chin. And a lot more on the chin, as well. He had no commitment to NUFC, took the piss, only wanted to be fit to play for Ingerland, and so on. To be honest, he made Marcelino, with his own broken finger sick note, look like a professional, dedicated, footballer.

So. I was a bit taken aback to see him emerge in the local paper, re-writing history. Thought i would say nowt, as who is Owen really? Then, I realised his garbage was gannin on, and on, regarding his love of all things NUFC and us lot up here. Oh dear!!

As it happens, and big deal, of course, I happened to study aspects of History, and how people re-invent, particularly if they win. But come on, is this a joke, or what. Even the Blessed Michael cannot surely try that one, and hope that people believe him.

I might be alone on that opinion, but I kind of doubt it. I do not blame our local evening paper for putting his words out. That is fine. But howay man, we might seem daft, but we are not that daft in terms of NUFC and everything that goes with the package.

Tarah, Michael, and stick to the horses, marra.

Short and Not that sweet,  I suppose. As I say, mebbe just my own view. But I doubt it.         Tarah...
