I can certainly hold my hands up and admit when I’m wrong folks and our front cover attack on Alan Pardew in Issue 6 calling him a puppet looks a bit stupid and Ill informed after the start we have had. Pardew is more like a puppet master as his side has gone unbeaten at the time of writing through the months of August, September and October. No mean feat in the Premier League and no mean feat in the League Cup when you consider our track record in that particular Competition. There are sterner tests ahead in November of course and I don’t think any of us are really thinking of digging the passports out just yet. But, after all the crap we have had to put up with under this regime, isn’t it just nice to walk up to the ground and look forward to seeing your team play and knowing that you have a good chance of seeing a win. Enjoy it while it lasts I say and well done to Alan Pardew, John Carver and Steve Stone. Keep it going.

Since our last issue the club released its long awaited mission statement.  A coalition that we are associated to NUFC Fans United welcome this as hopefully the beginning of a new era in communication with the supporters of Newcastle United.  It is pleasing to see a board committed to achieving success, long term stability in troubling financial times and investment in youth, nurturing the local talent that has for too long slipped away from the region.  Most importantly it is heartening to see recognition of the supporters as the lifeblood of the club and also of the special relationship that NUFC shares with the people, the city and the region and the synergy that they all share.  It is now vital that the interaction of club and community continues in a positive way and the commitment shown includes proper, honest and open communication and interaction with the fans.  To show our commitment to this NUFC Fans United are pleased to release our own mission statement reaffirming our desire to seek, establish and maintain communication between NUFC and its fanbase, to be a conduit for all fans of NUFC to have their views shared with the club and to be and honest, supportive and, if required, critical friend to the club acting in the best interests for all who love Newcastle United.

1. To encourage and promote open and honest communication between NUFC and its fanbase, encompassing individual fans and members of supporter associations or similar organisations, with the aim of helping the club excel both on and off the pitch.

2. To respect all participants and their views in order to be an accommodating forum for anyone with an interest in the betterment of NUFC.

3. To form a credible coalition, representative of the diverse range of opinion held by all those who comprise the fanbase of NUFC.

As a coalition we are open to and accepting of all opinions except those which are discriminatory on the grounds of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability or sexual orientation.

Let’s hope this is the beginning of an exciting new era both on and off the pitch.

I will finish with a big thankyou to all of the fans who came along to Kingston Park to support ‘The Entertainers Reunited’ match and the dinner the previous night. ‘The Entertainers’ may have lost again by a bigger scoreline but the whole weekend was a huge success with thousands of pounds raised for good causes in the North East. My own performance in goal did not go unnoticed and is rightly ridiculed within these pages, but nobody can ever take away from me the experience of a Kevin Keegan team talk and then being given the nod on the bench from the great man, ‘Wraithy get warmed up and go and make a name for yourself.’ I certainly did that! Have a great xmas and see you all in 2012.
