Happy new season? Not likely. Hope you all had a great summer. As usual the back end of our holidays have been ruined by our owner and his able side kick with the selling of club skipper Kevin Nolan, the ongoing battle with Joey Barton resulting in him being put on the list on a free, and Jose Enrique crawling slowly to the exit door after tweeting his thoughts on this regimes lack of vision. I have built up a great relationship with a lot of the players both past and present through my involvement with Toon Talk Magazine and Players Inc Events and I've yet to meet a player who has a good word to say about this current regime. At a recent charity event with Kevin Nolan And Joey Barton you could see how much it meant for them to play for Newcastle United. They are big name players who earn good pay of course but are very passionate about their football and for them pulling on the black and white shirt at St James meant a great deal. It is very easy for a player to sit back and say nothing when things are going wrong behind the scenes but you have to admire both Kevin and Joey for coming out and telling the fans what a shambles Newcastle United is behind the scenes. The trust for me was lost when they treated club Legends Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer with contempt and lets not forget the shameless dismissal of Chris Hughton who had restored our faith with a fantastic promotion season. What's the answer? It's simple. Put the club up for sale Mr Ashley and sell it to somebody who has a love and understanding of the beautiful game and who has enough money to invest into our depleted squad and who has enough money to give you what you want. For Carroll Nolan Barton, read Beardsley Waddle Gascoigne, it's history repeating itself. I don't want to go back to being a sleeping giant, I want our club to realise its potential. Get out of our club and take the casino owner with you.

I pity the new players that have joined us so far. What the hell must they be thinking?  ‘Zut Alors’ I imagine. I confess I know very little about any of the players that we have signed. You may think it’s ignorant but I follow Newcastle United, and don’t watch anyone else, so Italian, French, German Leagues and players pass me by. I hope they do well and settle into their stride quicker than Colo and Jose did in their debut seasons. I fear a relegation battle this year. The dressing room spirit has been broken and we the fans are divided with our opinions. This is something that we are hoping to change with the birth of a coalition of supporters called ‘NUFC FANS UNITED’. We will have had our first meeting by the time you read this and you will no doubt have read about it in the media. If not visit www.nufcfansutd.com and if you want to get involved then drop us an email. It’s free and all opinions are valid. Oh and we aren’t going to buy the club!

Despite the summer of discontent I’m still looking forward to the new season and although I’m not a Pardew fan I have faith in John Carver and the lads to give it their all this season. Are there three teams worse than us this season? Yes there are, but we need luck with injuries and suspensions, something we didn’t get last time we went down. Finally I’m sure you have heard about this but I have to give it a plug anyway. Kevin Keegan and Terry Mac are taking charge of the Entertainers for one last time on October 9th at Kingston Park. For information on the game and dinner check out the advert in this issue or visit www.theentertainersreunited.co.uk . Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for kids and with the likes of Shearer and Ferdinand back in black and white it promises to be some day! Let’s hope it’s not our first win of the season eh!

I’ve joined the twitter revolution over the last six months so feel free to follow me @stevewraith or the fanzine @NUFCToonTalk and pop onto our website www.fansonline.net/newcastleunited.  See you next issue and if you go a wandering along the cliffs of dover…….
