My advise is to not park illegally. Sounds harsh but true. Don't think " I didn't know" or "I thought" will hold up. Expensive lesson.

Rule number 1 always look for signage when you park up especially if you're intending to park in a pub car park to you have no intention of using/spending money in

Blue Bell in boro made their car park pay and display as people were using the car park to car share from

PARKING FINE ADVICE ANYONE PLZ
I got one from a private company who owned the car park spaces i parked in outside the building i was going to but they wasnt any signage near to say it wasnt owned by the building and that it was actually privately owned. I got sent a letter with a fine that had a photo of my car with the time i was parked there. I appealed with photo evidence to show no signage near and i got let off with it. Alot depends on signage and where signage is situated.

I got 1 last year received loads of threatening letters bailiffs, increasing the fine etc.. Still refused to pay, I sent them a letter explaining poor signage and saying that I will not reply to any further correspondence, applied for a mortgage this year and they wanted to know what a ccj was for £445 from Northampton courts told them for parking fine, everything OK in the end

its a charge and not a fine just to be clear...
However this now isnt a reason not to pay it, you will get loads of people saying to ignore it and quoting martin lewis, those are the ones you should ignore...
With the bluebell, some people have had success by speaking to the landlord, others have contacted the company its self, but, tbh i think you may have to just chalk this off to experience...
If you do contact them, personally i would avoid all the details about the canoe trip and just explain it was a genuine mistake and own up that you hadnt seen the signs, they might let you off ;-)
