Boro and 4-4-2 Magazine In The 90ís

Bit of a memory test this one .
I used to collect 4-4-2 mag, and I was sure that I remember feeling Boro had Ďarrivedí as a glamour club back in the 90ís when there was a big feature done on us in the mag.
I have memories of about a four or five page spread, with photos of Juninho and Barmby and the squad still using Ayresome as a training ground.
Definitely from 95/95 season..

Iíve had a look online but canít seem to find it .
Can anybody help ?
Am I thinking of the right magazine?
Can anyone else remember something similar?

Boro and 4-4-2 Magazine In The 90ís
The front cover was of Brian Robson with his arm around Nicky Barmby, who had been the summer signing from Spurs.

The article was entitled 'Down by the Riverside' and was in recognition to the great start Boro made to the 95/96 season and the new stadium before the defeats started piling up around Christmas. Still did well that season considering the team cost a fraction of the class of 96/97 the season after that sadly were relegated.

Some good results, home wins v Chelsea, Liverpool, Blackburn (who were champs) Man City etc, away wins v Leeds!!!

Newcastle should have won the league that year but squandered an 11 point lead at Crimbo, Keegans famous rant 'they have to get a result at Middlesbrough' was a kiss of death if ever there was one for the last game of the season.

Home kit was awful.

Unlikely that Boro would have made the front cover if that had not been the case.

It was all Man U Man U Man U Fergie said this
Cantona blah blah in those days.

Blackburns lack of appeal didn't exactly hurt United either on the media front.

The only articles i read in 442 always seemed to be having a dig at us. There was an article about us naming the ground The Riverside and only having a sponsor for the stadium. They felt that stadiums should be named after the sponsor as it would be much more lucrative and cited Boltons Reebok Stadium as a shining example of how it should be done. I felt it was a load of rubbish at the time and felt that stadium names shouldn't chop and change just for money as the name is part of the fabric of the club.
Anyway i was proved right...look at Bolton now. Sponsored by Bolton University! Id like to see that name shoehorned into a terrace chant.

I have a football magazine called Goal, issue 4 from January 1996 which has Robson, Barnby and Juninho on the front cover. Inside there is an eight page spread about the club and the area in the aftermath of the hatchet job the Evening Standard did on Teesside
