Proven goal scorer especially under Warnock

Wonder if Colin would consider playing 2 up top? Rhodes, Rudy and Britt were all more successful pre Boro and played with a strike partner

For 15m in the championship, Id expect more than 11 goals. No value for money.

If he is as high as we set our striker sights, prepare for more of the same.

I'd keep Fletcher over Britt.

However, what we paid for either of them is irrelevant now.

I think wed probably sell him for a loss if we could, the problem is hes not good enough for the prem and hes out the budget of most championship teams. Hes probably one of the highest earners in the championship. I think he will be here by default next season and probably playing up front with a striker like Moore. A big part of Keifer Moores game is his hold up play and flickons which might benefit Britt.

Hes never scored a hatful in the championship in his career, his best is 15 . Which is bang average .

We need to do better than both Assombolonga and Fletcher.
They were two disastrous signings and appalling value.
Fletcher is not coming good, nor will he.

Britt and Fletcher both only have 1 year left on their contracts so will be for sale , unless they extend their current contracts .
It would be criminal and bad business if they are allowed to run their contracts out , like Rudy , Shotton , Howson , Pears ,Friend , Johnson , Clayton and Ayala have this season .

I don't think either Britt or Fletcher would be huge misses. However I can't see how we would receive decent prices for either of them, and I do think Warnock will be able to get more of a tune out of them than any other manager has.

Not too sure about Kieffer Moore though. Poor scoring record, albeit playing in poor teams.

Fletcher is getting better and better, but he's not at the level of Assombalonga who was a better than 1 in 2 striker before he came here. Neither of them are perfect, but they're not going to be, as we're in the championship. If we can recruit some good enough payers where we can afford to play both, then we will do alright, and so will the strikers.

How many times do people need to say the following, before it gets understood:
Strikers need chances to score goals, and we've had a lack of creativity and crossing ability for years. This means strikers will score less for us, just like all the other players score less for us. Just like when strikers join us they score less, or when they leave us they score more. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what our problems are.

We've had defensive managers, managers that don't play two up top when the players suit two up top, managers that play long balls to short strikers, managers that don't have or play creativity, managers with zero tactical sense, managers who have players bought for them that they don't want, managers that don't play Stuani up front, managers that don't play Braithwaite up front, who Barcelona think is good enough for them (even as backup). Can relate any of that to the coaching as well, which has to be equally as bad.

The fact we had two strikers scoring over 10 last year is a miracle.

Assombalonga
19/20 goal every 228 minutes (in and out the team, no creativity, poor side)
18/19 goal every 192 minutes (no creativity, poor side, played long balls)
17/18 goal every 199 minutes (no creativity, poor side, played long balls)
16/17 goal every 130 minutes (played for Forrest, who finished 4th bottom)
15/16 goal every 56 minutes (played for Forrest, mostly injured, don't count this)
14/15 goal every 161 minutes (played for Forrest, they finished 14th)

So if he can score at that rate for Forrest, who were $hite, then what is the problem here?

If Assombalonga was playing for a decent side, had a logn run in the team, played ball to feet and created chances he would easily score over 20 per season, no problem whatsoever.

He scored 5 in his last 7 under Warnock, 5 goals at an average of 1 goal every 95 minutes, which pretty much explains it all, and that wasn't even with any different other player recruitment.

Odd isnt it that In recent years strikers goals dry up when they sign for us, similarly former goal scoring midfielders become shot shy. Must be the individual is sh1te.

I have given up trying to judge Boro strikers (or wingers for that matter).

So many have been good before coming to the Boro, or have been "poor" in a Boro shirt but gone on to good things elsewhere (Stuani, Brathwaite etc). How many were calling for Traore (sp) head on a plate for being a terrible footballer?

Seeing as we dont actually have a defined playing style, I am not sure we would know how to use and support a decent striker.

You obviously didnt read the stuff posted on the other board re Assombolonga and Fletcher conversions.
They both have 1 in 6 inside the 6 yard box.
Fletcher is actually as deadly outside the penalty area as he is in the 6 yard box.

Boro also had a massive number of shots last season in total. They did create opportunities. These two utter spuds just missed them - along with their misfiring colleagues.
Neither of them are good championship strikers and never will be.

We were lowest scorers last season when finishing just above the drop; 5th lowest scorers the season before when finishing just outside the play offs.

Of course we need pace and creativity - some of us have been clear about that for seasons - but we need rid of these two wasters.
