This may have been his house in Dartmouth Grove, Shooters Hill. Or at least the site where it stood

Here is an interesting fact, the movement to abolish slavery came from this region (sort of)

It was started in the dormitories of Pocklington School, by a certain William Wilberforce Esq (what a name!)

There you go, hooray henry's changing the world!!!

EP, the movement for the abolition of slavery began long before Wilberforce. Quakers and other religious groups, as well as some humanists, campaigned against slavery from the late 17th Century.

Lord Mansfield, the Lord Chief Justice, decided in 1772 that slavery was incompatible with English Common Law, effectively abolishing slavery in England and Wales (though not the colonies). He was very fond of his mixed race niece, which may have influenced him.

I sometimes wonder whether American Independence (led mostly by wealthy slave-owners) was partly set in motion by the increasing strength of abolitionism in UK.
