First consideration is safety; I'm not totally convinced that it is. However, by setting an intended date, it's still possible to call it off if a rise in infection rate occurs, for example, in the German game. Without an intended date, it will never start.

After that, for the integrity of the sport, it's important that the matches are played if at all possible.

I'd rather be there, but it's better matches take place without fans than not at all.

I don't think it's necessary for TV crews to be there.

There are ways to make it happen, it's whether clubs are prepared to take the inconvenience and pain. For example Rockliffe hall is stood empty, why not bunker down all of the squad and staff needed to get through the couple of months to finish the season to get tested first and stay isolated until it's done.

I think it's vital the TV crews are there, the nation needs the entertainment - if you call it that.

It wont start then. Teams near the bottom will report some players have tested positive for virus and refuse to play.

Need to scrap this season and make positive plans to restart a new season in september.

I think if the season was going to be cancelled it would of happened by now.
With only 9 games left it seems more important to finish this season than starting the next.
It will defo go ahead in my opinion
Just a matter of when.
We all have to take some risk eventually

Agree big unit

For the sake of 'sporting integrity', this season must be finished, not only in the UK, but worldwide.

The time scale is irrelevant

There's no rush to start a 2020/21 season....in fact, there doesn't have to be one, if the virus escalates.

Football can re-organise itself, and start a 21/22 season in due course [^]

"integrity of the sport, it's important that the matches are played if at all possible."

No integrity to rush results through in false playing conditions with no crowds, teams missing players and all this really for the sake of the £.
Have a bit of repect for the folk who have died. The season should be over now.

I love all this fake “it’s not safe enough” when really it’s “if we scrap it now we’ll stay in the Championship”.[:D]
Chill, Boro will probably play a country mile better without us lot on their backs!

"rush results through in false playing conditions with no crowds, teams missing players"

Football is never played under laboratory conditions: you call these condition false, but there is no such thing as "normal".

There's always someone with an injury crisis
There's always clubs with congested fixture lists due to cup involvement.
Every year, matches get played in horrendous weather, while others fun their mtch called off.

This is just a new obstacle for clubs to contend with.

"Have a bit of repect for the folk who have died"

I don't see that point at all. How is not playing matches showing respect for the dead?

Respect the living certainly: don't play if it can't be done safely.

"all this really for the sake of the £."

Doesn't have to be: quite happy for the matches not to be televised at all. It's not about money. It's not about fans. It's about the game.

I'm interested as to how Boro intend to show games. I am hoping that sky show them all on the red button but clubs are moaning that they get no revenue.

The other thing mentioned is Ifollow as they get a few quid for each game. Yet we opted out of it. We uses our sub standard own platform (buffering and crashing). I presume the intention 'in theory' is to show all games home and away?

Hoping for the red button as I pay for sky sports. I really don't want to have to pay Boro as well[rle]

Probably wishful thinking but I wondered whether the intention was to show non Sky matches on ifollow/Matchday Live free of charge.

The EFL statement says that discussions are ongoing with ifollow etc with a view to making every match available. What's to discuss if they will be charging - they are already available? Or does it mean discussions about making Saturday 3pm matches available in the UK?

This obsession with the integrity of "this" season is incredibly twee.
I'm much more interested in the future of the sport than I am some anaemic completion of a season so compromised.
