It's a great time with Boro staying out of the relegation area.

"The Northern Premier League would like to update supporters on the current situation.
The Northern Premier League has been working alongside its fellow step 3&4 leagues, via the FA Alliance committee, to find a solution for the 2019/20 season that can, ideally, apply across all of the National League System.

The NPL, Isthmian and Southern Leagues are unanimous in wanting to terminate the 2019/20 season immediately. Whether that is done on the basis of determining the final placings via average points per game, or the season is declared null and void cannot be decided until the National League’s intentions are confirmed.

The NPL, Isthmian and Southern Leagues have made the FA of their wish to terminate the 2019-20 season, although any such decision has to be ratified by FA council. While this process is on-going, competition issues can then be decided, together with the implications for promotion and relegation.

The league, via the Alliance, is lobbying the government, the Premier League and others for additional financial assistance. A recent survey amongst NPL clubs estimated the impact of Covid-19 on those clubs to be over £3.25m

The NPL will continue to provide its member clubs with as much information, support and guidance as possible to assist them during this difficult time. "

Already seeing talk of clubs suing the leagues and the FA if the season isn't completed. whether that is done on the basis of determining the final placings via average points per game, or the season is declared null and void.

It makes no sense not finish this season. So leagues can start a new season.

Some of the league seem determined to start a new season on time so they can collect more league and association fees as normal.

"Two key decisions have been agreed to help Ebac Northern League clubs through the current situation.

League membership fees for the 2020/21 season are to be waived and the annual presentation dinner is to be cancelled.

League chairman Glenn Youngman said:

“We fully appreciate that clubs are facing a very difficult time in the coming weeks and months.

“We will do all we can to help and support them.

“By waiving fees and cancelling the annual dinner clubs will be able to put hundreds of pounds towards paying essential bills and other costs.

“We are sending regular updates from the FA to our clubs so they are aware of how the pandemic is affecting football nationally and how any developments may affect them. We will also continue to liaise closely with the FA.”

The updates include guidance about the Government’s financial help for businesses."

It seems that the Northern League chairmen has getting pressure from the club's wanting compensations.

The handling of this has been very poor. So much for all Leagues in English football league system being equals. Should have know this was the plan when the Northern League suspended the season whilst major events where still going on across the UK.
