Last time I was in James Cook Hospital they had numerous shops inside. Why donít they turn these into a Supermarket for staff only? The essentials are delivered to the Hospital direct from the local warehouses and only NHS staff are allowed to buy. Would cut down on car journeys and mixing with the general public for staff as well. [^]

This seems obvious to me. I can't understand why it hasn't been done.

Its sounds good but if nurses/doctors are picking things up and putting them down there must be a risk of contamination because of their job.

James cook has a small newsagents and small M&S. how can you cram is supermarket into there? Not all hospitals are like James cook either.

Practically wise, there are a lot of NHS workers that don't work in hospitals, sadly.

There are a lot who do. Even, if they donít, it must be easier going to a shop dedicated to NHS staff rather than the big supermarkets. Unless of course, people stop stockpiling.

"I think there should be Supermarkets only for these workers as I mean am very scared to enter a store and touch stuff these have touched after they been treating a corna victim"

Nurses and doctors are more conscious about their hygiene than the general public. They're very unlikely to go from treating someone with Covid19 to the supermarket without having washed their hands at the very least!

And, really, that's the respect you show the kind of people who are risking their own lives to treat us if we end up getting severe symptoms from this. It's bad enough that most people clapping them now voted consistently since 2010 to cut and freeze their wages, with many saying "well, it was their choice to go for a poorly paid career." I'd hoped people had finally realised how lucky we are to have so many people who care enough to go into those professions - but comments like this and stories about NHS staff being evicted because people are "scared they might bring corona back" is really depressing me.

Why just NHS staff?

There are lots of other key workers in the same situation such as LA care workers providing a service to the elderly and vulnerable.

Given the restrictions on visitors now in place at James Cook (and presumably other hospitals) aren't they virtually NHS only shops now anyway?
