"Vegan Ham and Cheese Toasties" - the worlds gone mad!!!!

Sign outside a cafe on the way to work this morning -
Surely got to be a wind up?

A young woman on the train on monday ordered vegan "sausages" then watched me eat the full English then asked "how can you do that" (?).
I asked her to buy me another and Ide show her.

Didnt go down very well [unlike the breakfast].

I remember as a teenager we all went vegetarian until we went to the Wimpy Bar for burger an chips[^]

.
Vegan foods imitating meat and dairy I find strange and revolting. Tried a vegan macaroni cheese recently and felt ill.

What's the point? There's loads of great veg dishes around.

To be fair I had a vegan "ham" toastie from Costa. It's actually quite nice. Certainly not worth being fake offended about.

Greggs vegan sausage rolls are better than normal.

"Greggs vegan sausage rolls are better than normal."

They really aren't. Their vegan sausage rolls are very good... but not as nice as the real ones.

FOR ME the real ones are more moist, and have more flavour. I find the vegan ones a little bit on the dry side. (I also quite like a Gregg's sausage roll the day after a few (too many) beers... and the vegan ones don't quite cut it. Not enough fat!!

I don't doubt that the vegan ones are miles more healthy though.

Create a sausage out of pork bits and stuff is good
Create a sausage out of veg, soy and stuff is bad
[:D] Crackers

Cuthbert - Iím not sure but itís not necessarily the case that the vegan sossy roll from Greggs is much healthier.
Vegan doesnít always mead healthy

There's not much difference between the Greggs meat and vegan rolls in terms of calories and fat.

If you want to eat healthily then there are much better ways to go about it than just substituting vegan or vegetarian versions of the same foods. A diet of vegetarian crisps and vegan rolls won't help [;)]

People who find it weird or struggle to come terms with have small brains to compute the information

Its pretty obvious why something would be advertised as a Ďveganí ham and cheese toastie.

It's like a lot of things, something that fundamentally changes what we do to help the environment has to brand itself like something we're used to. Vegan cheese and vegan ham is going to sell more than selling the same product as wheat protein toasties (or whatever) people need time to get used to these things.

I was at a tesla dealer years ago and they had to do similar. I asked why the (then model) model s had a radiator grill on the front. He explained that that's just what people expect cars to look like

You are probably all right [:D]

However, I still really enjoy the "meat" sausage rolls for all their lovely greasy, gristly, tastiness... especially with a hangover.

(I like the vegan ones too, but I find they need a bit of tomato sauce)! [^]

I prefer vegetarian food when it isn't trying to imitate meat. Indians have it right with a lot of their vegetarian offerings. Veggie bacon, ham, burgers are all largely crap. Beyond burgers taste like low fat tesco value burgers or something, yet cost about 8x as much. the greggs sausage rolls are decent. the greggs steak bakes are atrocious.
