Yes, but not his greatest pair of games. Nice to get Ayala back as there was a leader at the back missing yesterday.

Im willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now but that first goal was a daisy cutter and took an age to go in, I would of fancied myself to save that.

Ive rated him so far and do believe hes got a good chance to make that shirt his own, but he is still in the audition process for me, from now until the end of the season hes got to show us if hes upto it as next season were gonna need a reliable keeper if were gonna give it a go.

He's not had much to do in a lot of games, but I'm happy for him to be our number one for the rest of the season at the very least.

He's been poor in the last two games though.

For me, hes had outstanding moments, but hasn't the presence, strength or height for a keeper. Last night, he reminded me of one of my U11s keepers, asking the bigger boys to kick the ball out for him as he cant kick it very fair. Very poor for the Wigan opener.

Would be better as a number 2 at this stage. Randolph used to make at least one world class save a match unfortunately Pears barely makes a save unless they are straight at him.

The issue with the first goal was that he didn't see it until late because it was hit through Fry's legs. I think a fit and on form Randolph would save that. Aynsley maybe needs a little more leg strength to reach it with his dive

Pears will drop some howlers; all keepers do, and when he does, there will be some "told you so" on here.

However, we signed Randolph for 5 million, an experienced international keeper who, in his first half season (ok 25 games) dropped howlers vs QPR, Derby and Villa that all cost us goals.

I'm not saying Randolph wasn't good; I'm saying as and when AP makes a costly error, let's not turn around and pretend nothing of the sort could possibly have happened with a good, experienced keeper.

Their first was right in the corner, no chance many keepers are saving that. Some XXXXXX gets talked on here.

Their first was a slow shot that he could have stopped, many keepers would have.

Just rewatched it, it was a reverse shot through a players legs into the corner. Pears gets close to it, but I'd be doubtful many would get closer. It's not a particularly slow shot.

Agree to disagree.
He's far from the prime candidate at fault for that goal, and in no way would I drop him for it, but he could have done better.

I think he's doing alright and deserves the run he's getting.
Have heard the new keeper is looking really good so in preseason it will be interesting.

Not the worst player in the starting eleven but costs us a goal a month.

This new Austrian bloke must be XXXXXX awful if he can't get a game.

He wasn't the player most at fault for it and he did see it late. But it could have been kept out. I certainly wouldn't have brought it up though, it was hardly a howler and many keepers would have struggled with it.

Pears has done well but if we're planning on challenging at the top half of the table we could do with some more experience. That said, if he was first choice next season I wouldn't consider it a disaster. He's far, far better than Steele or Ripley and has a lot of potential.

He's 6 foot 2! Taller than Randolph.

Height - he's a good height for a keeper 6"2 to 6"4 is the perfect size.

Strength - Ripley was strong but not very good. His strength will increase, he's 22 year old

Presence - I don't think most fans can even define what this means
