Total mess at moment. Will take a long time to recover, surely Ole won't be there much longer after tonight.

Absolutely awful result [:o)]

can't believe how much they've spent on what they have now. Letting likes of Lukaku go was a terrible idea. That team is just not Man Utd. Most of the names starting now would slot into bottom half PL teams nicely, they're just not good enough for the level everyone is used to Utd being at.

They're heading for mid-table mediocrity as it stands, doesn't look like they're making any progress with the new, younger players.

Employing poch isn’t the answer he’s won nothing with great players . With the clout united have they can buy proven managers .

As daft as it may sound I think Manure should go for Christmas Wilder — he’s won nothing also — sane as Pooch but like others have said Woodward is the real failure. I thought that Charlton made an error in bringing in Mourinho and not letting him bring in his own director of football in. Now they’re stuck with a heap of crap. Hilarious.

They spent 55mil on a fullback and 80mil on Maguire. Yet somehow have an awful defence.

The one thing I'm sick of hearing on talksport phone ins etc is UTD fans (not a manc accent to be heard) saying they need more investment. They gave spent over 500mil in 3 years.

Just a series of bad managers wasting a fortune. You look at the players leicester have signed in the same period.

I guess it's a bit like Woody. It's a squad with a mix match of players on good money who where bought by different managers to play different formations.

They just look like and average side looking for top 6. A bit like an Everton.

I don't see many utd players getting near a city or Liverpool side...Rashford[rle]

Clear sign that money isn't everything.

They're now wanting to spend £30m on that 16 year old kid who came on against us on Tuesday.
They waste so much.

There’s a few on this thread seem to be revelling in UTD’s struggle right now. I’m always interested in the reasons for not liking a team that aren’t a direct competitor or derby.. Me personally I have the obvious competitive edge shall we say with Leeds Newcastle and Sunderland but other than that couldn’t care less, completely neutral.

the reality of the Glazers is coming home to roost. Those fans who left to form FC United of Manchester knew this would happen. Man U are now a marketing club to make money for the shareholders. Hence signing of Pogba for shirt sales and global appeal rather than what he can do for the team. Woodward makes decisions for the shareholders not the team. They make the odd big signing but on the whole are not interested in spending enough to get them back where they used to be.

imagine the side they could have had if they didn't spend ridiculous money on a few 'marquee' signings. Pogba, Lukaku & Sanchez must be three of the worst value for money signings ever made in football history.

Red_tiff I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm laughing at United because of their plastic fans getting so upset.

Plastic fans are the scourge of football.

For years they had success under Ferguson and they gained a fanbase of 1000s of plastics.

Now he's gone and they're stuck supporting a team that's a shadow of what it once was.

I find that funny [:D]

What does 'plastic fans' really mean?
They have the highest % of ST holders within the ground's catchment areas than any other club - apparently.

Think they are shocking at the moment. Woodward wants sacking for appointing Ollie - stupid decision.

Have a soft spot for them for two reasons - George Best and Dennis Law [?]

It really is brilliant to watch all the glory supporting Man Utd fans cry and moan with their current position.

They have signed one idiot after another since Fergie left.

How Ole still has the job is incredible.

The longer he keeps it, the worse they'll get.

Hope he has the job for eternity [:D]

To be fair, United are still 5th in the league. As much as they've had some bad results, they've also had enough decent ones to stay up there. Admittedly 6 points behind Chelsea, and miles from the top 3, but still just about hanging in there.

If they start dropping down the league, then I reckon Ole will be in real trouble.

Their strategy for a while now has been to throw money at it and hope it works out.

Alexis Sanchez is the best example. They spent big money on him thinking he would be a match winner for them, but a reason he performed so well at arsenal was that their style of play suited him.

What even is Uniteds' style of play these days?

Man United
A sizeable percentage of their fans chose to "support" Man United for the seemingly non-stop avalanche of trophies. For those people the realisation that this is not a given is a real shock to the system. This isn't supposed to happen. Nobody explained this, Man United are the greatest, except when they're not. First their "noisy neighbours" spoil things and then that other team in red. This is Ferguson's legacy a stadium filled with an audience that expects success, trophies and nothing less will do.

The fortune of football clubs can go down as well as up.
