Burnley to bid £10m for Dael Fry

Well, so The Sun and BBC Gossip Column are reporting anyway.

I think that amount would tempt us to sell, but not sure it would be a great move for him, as he would be sitting on their bench like Ben Gibson has done for the last 18 months.

We certainly canít afford to lose him at the minute.

I bet they don't.

But assuming they did, we can't afford to let our only fit CB go.

About 18 months ago I would have been angry to accept £10m

Having seen the problems he has in using his left foot and how easily be can be bullied by centre forwards I don't think I would be too upset at the minute

He's pretty much played every game and being young and English I still think he's worth more.

He was arguably worth double in the summer (based on webster going for 25). I doubt we will cash in despite the fact we are skint but more so its a problem area as it is.

I think fans have to take into account he's playing with two CMs and very young wingbacks. Also up until November the whole team was shot in confidence. Who did play well?

I think 12-15 mil has to be the very minimum (up front). I imagine Gibson swap or loan deal will gather traction.

The one thing I do say is if he goes then we best have some Fecking sense to put in add ons (apperances / England cap etc) and also a sell on clause[^]

This goes for any young player who moves on. I guess being better contracted we have more wiggle room than with Traore.

£10m plus Gibson.

Since when has a Burnley reserve been worth money. [;)]

Yeah let's sell our only fit CB. Let's snap their hands off and leave ourselves less than a fortnight to find a replacement.

That's a great idea don't you think [rle]

I think it's a great idea, he is worse than 2 CM's playing in the CH position. I'd presume we'd have players lined up if he were to go, or do you not?. So take the money and run.

He's not that great and definitely not worth £10m.

We're linked with a couple of centre halfs so I'd be happy to sell for that.

As others have said, he hasnít been brilliant since his return from injury. However he is the only fit centre back at this time. Bad for the club and Fry to sell.

Have to hope Gibboís itchy fingers donít push for the sale

i wonder If burnley are selling Tarkowski?

they can bid £10M, but it wouldn't be enough for an opening offer to be accepted.

Matej Vydra is the loan player to take If a deal is made. He is also the loan player to take if a deal isn't made involving Fry !

Seeing Fry this week go on a run nearly to the goal line reminded me of Pallister doing the same at the same ground in what was a div III match IIRC. If sold then Pally would have fetch an equivalent of £10m but probably less. At the time he always seemed to have a mistake in him. Give Fry until the end the season.

He would be mad to go there, weird manager and weird club. Gibson has wasted 18 months of his career there. I hope people donít give up on Dael, heís had to play on that left side of the 3 which doesnít suit him. Heís still got huge improvements in him.

Probably has no truth in it.
When Burnley were last linked with a £10m bid (last summer) Woodgate pointed to recent defender moves that were over £20m. In other words they were miles and miles off.
We might want to sell a second player at some stage because of FFP but it is doubtful we would really by interested in writing off over £10m.

We are skint , so £10m will go a long way .
If we replace him with Gibson on loan AND Reece Oxford on loan or buy at £1.5m , we will be stronger and have money to spend on other areas .

Not a move I thought would make sense from a Burnley perspective, £10mil for a player who has struggled a little in the championship just to come in and stagnate on their bench?

Maybe Nobby , so signing Fry who is young and has experience of the championship , would be preparing for the worse ( going down )
If they did go down they would get offers for Tarkowski from premier teams , so they have his replacement in place .
Fry would get a pay rise and the chance of premier league football so it could suit him .
Boro need the money so it could suit all parties

He'd not get a single game this season unless Burnley lost Mee or Tarkowski.

Gibson is a better player and hasn't got a sniff in 2 years, and that's not all down to injuries.

Canít believe anybody wants to see him go.

Young player capped at every young England level and still maturing, £10m is an insult and Dyche should be sent packing after what heís done for Ben Gibsonís career.

I know itís about opinions but I think it would be madness to sell Fry.

I'd prefer to keep him, still only 22, still learning (only 2 full seasons of games behind him), still growing (once he gets a bit stronger it will make a huge difference). He is playing this season without a pre-season, on the back of a nasty injury, in a transition season, and a back 4/5 that changes personnel every match. It's hardly ideal, but it's a learning curve and I'm sure it'll come good.
