Lot of aggression at that match tonight

Two sets of people coming together (wouldn't exactly call it fighting) at half time and had to be pulled apart in the stupidly packed concourses. Two fans offering each other out 30 minutes into the game on the row below me and a variety of viciousness whenever we lost the ball.

I'm no shrinking violet myself but tonight was very strange to witness. I was considering taking my little lad to the game tonight but thankfully that didn't happen.

I've not been to many games this year. It's this a new norm?

You could tell straight away in the ground there was loads of people who'd been on the sauce all day on the way down and that's what the issue was, it was definitely aggier than normal.

Still probably boozing from 9/10am before as you would do on a lads Saturday away day, with an added extra 5 hours drinking time before kick off.

I imagine a lot were on the Colombian marching powder and the bongy eyes had a lot to do with it...as usual at most Boro away games

Uncle marbles it only avoided being fighting because of the lack of space on the concourse. Punches were thrown in one of those and the other had two lads grabbing a bloke by the throat.

I'm not a delicate flower but it struck me that fans of the same club were at each other so much.

No. Not the new norm. Atmosphere was much more laid back where I was on lower tier in rail seats. And concourse wasnt that bad either.
Were both things worse higher up in the stands?

Block 114 Rob. Was in Row 28 and you couldn't move on the concourses which may have fed into that.

I was in block 114 row 16 and didnít see any aggression at all. The concourse was busy but one of the stewards suggested we went up the stairs to the upper concourse and it was fine up there.

I thought our fans were well behaved.

I think Kezzy is right, but not quite in the way s/he thinks. It's the first game I've been in a Boro away end fur just over a year, and it just reminded me one of the reasons I don't really bother any more.

Nothing specific really, I feel like I'm just too old for the general eye-popping, throat-scorching unpleasantness directed at home fans, home players, and then away fans if they're not singing as much as you'd like.

On a sort of related note, I wasn't at all impressed with the stadium once we got in. It's nice to look at but not nice to be in. Basically everything is too small and a bit cheap. It's not a patch on (how I remember) the Emirates, or even some of the new stands at older grounds.

The crowd control element of releasing people in batches was good, but having to show/scan your ticket three times on the way in felt like overkill. Also "Hats off! Undo your jackets!" doesn't exactly create the most welcoming atmosphere.

WBA and Preston were very sedate and that's the norm for away games.

A group of youngsters on the edge of block 118 spent the entire first half taunting a couple of Tottenham fans in the block next door (about 6 feet away). None of them watched a single moment of the game. It was amusing for a bit, and nothing worse than you'd see at most games, but it ended up being relentless and totally unnecessary from both sides.

The stewards were constantly having to intervene and the lads never reappeared for the second half, although they went into the concourse of their own accord at half time, so I don't know if they decided to leave or were disappeared by a snatch squad when they left their seats.

These 'big' games attract the drunken day trippers. Normal service will be resumed at Fulham on Friday with the loyal hard core.

What were the queues like for the cubicles at HT? It's reassuring that the younger generation of fans are getting a lot more roughage in their diet than we used to.

I got to the away end just before kick off and the concourses were clear but slippy. I was a bit agitated from all the queues....say at 7 Sisters for White Hart Lane that quite a track round the back of a giant Sainsburys to entrance 11 then a queue for ticket scan then queue for body searches. There were plenty of THFC staff which was good. Then when I go in the seat numbers were out of sequence where I was on row 19 Block 114. There was some banter by a couple of Boro fans that got a bit aggressive with Spurs fans above about taking them out, but nothing really much.

I liked the barriers to rest on as I was stood up all the game and as said views were very good.

The concourse seemed very crammed. I'm glad now we decided to drink in the Antwerp Arms beforehand. Nice little pub and got chatting to Brentford fan Billy the Bee who was at the game funnily enough.

As for the aggression, I didn't really see any incidents. One young lad was arguing with a steward about having to be searched twice but apart from that it was okay.

Spent alot of the game cringing at some our fans and the overreaction of grown blokes.

Away games do give the freaks a platform to say whatever they want without logic.

But all clubs have them.

I much prefer the tight security measures at places like spurs than the half hearted XXXXXXe you get at most places. If a bomb went off in a stadium there would be carnage. Same goes for when I'm going to a gig.

They just need to advertise stuff like no bags a lot better. People get justifiably XXXXXXed off at missing kick off by having to queue again. People have travelled for miles and spent loads of money. Stewards are for the most part rude and dismissive, probably because they've had to deal with people being XXXXXXed off all day.

The electronic turnstiles are also XXXXXXe and they had no one to help people getting in like they do at the Boro. I wish the cheapskates would just employ people.

It was very chavvy. Mostly harmless but disappointing to see the number of people who pay no attention whatsoever to the football. Each to their own though.

'I much prefer the tight security measures'

Games where they're not required at all I find more enjoyable.

Unfortunately there are those that will try to cause bother at whatever level you enjoy the game.

Ctc itís a different world security isnít just about Preventing hooligans now

As said above it was more about counter terrorism as we were playing a high profile game in the capital.

I didnít have an issue and also though it was quite reassuring.

I think this explains the open jacket policy as well if you think it through. Sadly

I also have no issue with the high security levels and welcome it. If they had a policy to search people 3 times before they can enter the stadium it would be fine with me.

I'm actually very surprised there hasn't been a terrorist incident inside a British stadium.

Lee that's the one where two blokes had her partner by the throat and she was going mad at them. Few punches thrown also as I said.

There's always people leathered at away games and a definite growing use of sniff too but I've rarely seen punches thrown between our own fans.

Id imagine they have to answer the below question on the website when buying a home ticket buddy, to stop it from being necessary.

Are you a terrorist? (y/n)
