weird game - Conflicting Agendas?

Well that was strange. Felt like we were playing with lead weights in our boots.

Did we really want/need another FA Cup game against in-form Soton away?

Appreciate the need to protect our assets like Coulson. But surely Liddle was a step too early.

Hey ho - I was just a TV watcher tonight but feel for the Away fans when they spend so much time, energy an cash on a false mission.

Smells a bit like Burton/Newport last year.

Was absolutely nothing like last years newport game; spuds have two players worth more than our collective squad..
With three games in seven days and super skinny squad , what did you really expect ?
Game plan went out of the window via a keeper mistake.. simple as that.
Had we gone in level , or even one down .. nerves might of got them.
But we came out of that, with no reduction in confidence ( given the opposition ) and with a few vital legs semi rested

Nothing like Newport or Burton!

Was always going to be a tough game even if we fielded our strongest available team. We have quite a few injuries too.

You can argue that he should have played the likes of Coulson, Pears, and Tav and while we were dominated in the first half their goals only came from our own mistakes.

2nd half I thought we had more of the ball than we did 1st half, used it better, got higher up the pitch and were able to get a number of free kicks and corners. Gazzaniga made a stunning save from the Wing free kick (in addition to the 1st half stop from Nmecha) and we nicked a goal. I recall Mejias making a good save from a cross/shot in the 2nd half and that was about all he had to do.

Maybe its a change in expectations after a few wins in a row but that was way better than Newport or Burton and it was against Spurs. Newport (2 divisions below) absolutely battered us and the Burton game..... well, expecting Dael Fry to be a right winger was one of the most bizarre sights I've seen while watching Boro. It was awful.

2nd half tonight was a good performance. They should gain more confidence from that to get a few more champo wins.

Pitch was big and Tottenham did a lot of running o think we tired trying to match them. I was at the game and donít feel short changed, just a bit frustrated that we gave them a goal start.

It was exactly like Newport. It may have looked like we were applauding the team off at the end, but in fact they all produced payslips out of their socks and were waving them in our faces. Disgrace.

Appreciate we are on the bones of our XXXXXX. Suppose it's just frustrating to see us dominated like that.
Weird season to be fair.
From high expectations to cannon fodder to four straight league wins must leave most fans in a head-spin.
Didn't think any player could claim to have won their individual battles against their direct opponent tonight. Spence was the only player to come out of that with any credit.

Bollox to it - we move on - just feel sorry for the travelling fans.

Out of form - no wins in four?
Could have been 6-0 first half.

You are aware they were in the champions league final last year ?
By all accounts , no travelling fans feel robbed , they certainly didn't sound it ..
You might be disappointed that we didnt give it a ' better go ' , but virtually no one else feels that way

I think you've let yourself get a bit carried away by the four wins.
Or you're doing a decent wind up. [:D]

Playing sat - Tues - Friday is madness. It was a replay we needed like a whole in the head.

The only 'bonus' is we appear to have picked up no injuries and more so no extra time.

I do worry about playing Fulham now. The back 3 will be the same. They are getting so many minutes and not even CBs. You worry about injuries and fatigue playing 3 days later.

Tavernier and Coulson both hurt ankles first half v Derby and did well to finish that game.

It wasn't very different to Preston, except no mistakes there and star forwards to take advantage. Both games we came alive in the second have after a strange 'lead in boots' first half. Even against such lofty opposition we were a Gestede flick on for an equaliser. I'd like us to be more front foot from the start in games against better sides. WBA was the model of how to beat a technically better side.
