Boris Johnson reveals that Downing Street is planning a 'bung a bob for a Big Ben bong' campaign, urging the public to chip in to cover the 500,000 cost.

Not to mention it shows that when they say the country needs to come together it's just another of their meaningless slogans.

They are putting more effort to this, the brexit 50p and the brexit museum nonsense than they ever did coming up with a Leave plan.

It's like they are jealous their parents had an actual VE day where the bells rang out, so they have had to invent their own. It's embarrassing.

ST I think a certain austrian bloke made worse decisions than this to be fair back in the 40s. As for your description of an estate car as a shooting brake i find funny. From wikipedia is this what you really have[cr][cr]. See below from wikipedia

Shooting-brake is a car body style which originated in the 1890s as a horse-drawn wagon used to transport shooting parties with their equipment and game. ... During the 1960s and early 1970s, several high-end European manufacturers produced two-door shooting brake versions of their sports cars.

If i can remember correctly i think its a merc estate you have and if you think the build quality of mercs since 1990 is upmarket, well what can i say.Oh and with regards to the german car industry its on its @rse at present as you can see the way the prices of BMWs, Audi,Mercs have plummeted.

Whats the point of bawling your eyes out on a football forum thinking its going to make any difference.

You can't have been paying attention. I always said it shouldn't happen but post referendum I consistently said it probably would. The probability changed but I don't think I ever put remaining above 1 in 3. I do think if there had been a second referendum Remain would have won, as did Farage and clearly so did Boris and Cummins et al.

As for moving on, already done it. But we are stuck with it for a decade now at least, but hopefully the economic folly can be mitigated a bit by rejoining the Single Market via EFTA/EEA in five years time.

I'm glad you took the time and effort to make it personal though, nice to know I still have a hold on certain losers. Maybe you should take your diatribe up with the execs at Daimler? Id ask Clive Stampers opinion if i wanted "hard facts".

Heres another few creepy things that have stuck with me over the years regarding posters.

Piggy, extremely helpful and polite and enjoyed his write up and blogs over the years.

Sossage, quite a few funny amusing comments over the years, 8 dart finish was class

Dicky, the lance armstrong thread, mistaken comedy genius

Pink Ponce was a good poster but took a lot of flak but asked for most of it TBF.

ClaireSmith, quite witty but could always tell when the menstrual cycle was nearing it climax, probably a gadgie like but who cares.

Lefty, usually good music threads although im no radio 6 listener but good threads over the years.

There will be many more but they are the posters who spring to mind, havent a clue who any of them are apart from Lefty who id met at the footy but wouldnt recognise him even if he walked past me with a poster saying all brexiteers are XXXXXXs so a totally unbiased opinion.

Maybe im an oddball or maybe you need to stop the know all im always right posts and respect others opinion. Look where this started it was your generalisation of all brexiteers being idiots, i voted Tory for the first time ever this year it certainly dosent make me a tory or guarantee i will vote for them again.

How's that a chip on my shoulder? Do you know what that phrase means?

I bet I'm correct. Seems you can't prove me wrong, hence the non sequitur

Aso Halle: you ae STILL banging on about something that happened a long time ago that's why I think there's a level of autism that has enabled you to focus on one minor detail and keep repeating it espite lack of context or relevance. I guess you missed the bit where I explained that it's Daimler AG that use the term and that I have even used it ironically in the past. These subtle nuances are lost on people like you, I get that now

Another post that makes no sense. Do you actually know how conversations work?

Throwing autism around as an insult is pretty low

It certainly is and it seems no one is bothered as they share the same political views.

Then you have Jam69 concerned about people with disabilities and criticising people for voting tory, but doesn't see an issue with his mate classing people with autism as "weirdos and oddballs"

Maybe the brexiteers could gather in Parliament Square and at the appointed hour all shout out "BONG". That'd show Johnny Foreigner that the lion can still roar despite a bongless big ben. Rule Britannia and all that. Hurrah.

Farage's fireworks request has also been rejected I think.

So, Bingo and a Vera Lynn sing song it is.

Still sounds more appealing then crying all night which some remainers will be doing.

By the way, the EU have been so much more dignified throughout their handling of this affair.

I've just seen an EU official in Brussels post what they are doing to mark the 31st January.

'BREXIT DAY SERVICE

All welcome

Friday 31 January 2020 13.00-13.50
Arrive from 15 mins before, refreshments afterwards.

A time to mark together the UK's departure from the EU
Come and give thanks for the good over the past five decades
Come and reflect on the closing of this chapter
Come and seek God's peace and protection
Come and pray for those who work in and with the EU and UK governments
Come for wisdom and vision for the future
Come as you are'
