I'd have no idea what teenagers would do. It's a sophisticated sort of place. Everyone climbs the Dom - which is fantastic - and walks over the Rhine bridges. The Alt town has great shops and markets. 4711 is ubiquitous. It's impossible to avoid smelling of it at some point. The local beer is Kolsch, extremely strong but easy to drink. It comes in very small glasses, so be careful. Be cautious near the river after drinks. The Rhine is a huge river and flows very fast. |

Very good city - took my 15 year old there for a short break in May half term. Dom is a must, There is a very good theme park called Phantasialand on the outskirts at Bruhl - though may not be open in Feb. Plenty of Museums ( chocolate one too ) and a great nightlife scene. A river cruise on the Rhine does the job, Big shopping scene with busy Schildergasse apparently Europes busiest shopping street, There are over 12 million people in the conurbation like. Just go and explore it is the best tip I can give. Plenty of good food options |

Which weekend? 20-24 is carnival and it's absolutely mental! The whole place is one big party, Dusseldorf is just the same as is Mainz. As for the kolsch been strong, it depends how you define strong, it's 4.8% |
