Great win for Stockton, 4-1 after extra time at Bridlington in the FA Vase and they have a home tie against Malvern Town or Atherstone Town. Billingham Town went up to Northumberland and thrashed Ashngton 5-0, a great result at an excellent ground. Northallerton lost at Whitley Bay, though not a Teesside team, they seem o have some interest on here. That was about it for the weekend with the weather taking its toll. Could be a couple of Academy derbies coming up at Bedford Terrace featuring Middlesbrough FC sides. When firmed up I'll post the dates for those interested. Link: |

I went up to Seaham Red Star to see what turned out to be a fairly comfortable win for Bishop Auckland. I'd forgotten about the away team's kit but instantly remembered having them as a Subbuteo team as a kid. Ref got a lot of stick, as they tend to at that level, but the highlight was listening in on a conversation between three fellas about the intricacies of artificial insemination. Apparently when it's a bull in action it mounts a pantomime style cow fitted with a strategically placed welly top. That only works for bovine bunk ups though. When the talk moved on to pigs, I discovered that they are too smart to shag a synthetic sow and that they get a hand shandy off the farmer instead. I've no idea how accurate all that it but it is now burned into my brain. |

Surprised how far Worcester City have fallen, that they are now playing in the Vase. It's not that long ago that they beat Coventry City in the FA Cup. Now they face Coventry United. |

I busy with work so couldn't make it to the Stockton or Boro games at the weekend. Some good teams in FA Vase. Some have played at a higher level. Vauxhall Motors were originally the works team of the Vauxhall Ellesmere Port Car Plant. It had a lot of success in its local leagues and fought its way up to semi-professional status and made it to. In March 2014 the club announced its intention to withdraw from the Conference North due to costs of playing at that level. They announced that the club had tendered its resignation from the Football Conference, with effect from the end of season 2013–14. The club took over their reserve team's place back in the West Cheshire League Division One for the 2014–15 season. Vauxhall Motors are top of North West Counties Division One South.(Step 6) |

Stowmarket Town have been signing some former pro players and look to be walking they league. So they could be one teams to look out for in later stages. But it's hard to tell how good a side they are because the Eastern Counties League Premier Division isn't one of the better divisions at step 5. |

Stockton will face Atherstone Town after the replay finished Atherstone Town 10-0 Malvern Town. It will be a long trip for the Midlands club. I'm sure everybody from Atherstone Town will be looking forward to testing themselves against a very good Stockton Town side that is top of the Northern League and many people's favourites to win the FA Vase. I just noticed this on Atherstone Town's wiki page. The original club was formed in 1887. They reached the semi-finals of the FA Amateur Cup in 1907–08, losing 3–0 to Stockton FC. |
