QRA scramble around 4am for a 767 without comms caused them to throttle up and ruffle a few London feathers! [:D]

Some of the comments are priceless.

“Why are they allowed to do this without warning and with no regard for the public. They should notify us first”

Experienced one just after a terrorist incident in 90s at the time was shopping with my then young children was very scary because it’s some noise to hear out of the blue.

Seems to be one or two over Teesside every year, so to see the reaction this one caused is a bit strange.

Ffs get a grip. Either get OUT of bed and defend the country yourselves or STFU.

I heard the sonic boom when it happened in the summer(think it was June this year) over Essex. Slept through the one last night. But I also slept through an earthquake several years ago when I lived in Lincolnshire. The one in June was unreal never known anything like it.

This thread and the whole response to the incident shows up just why this country is búggeréd.

If this was a genuine incident then we should just be thankful it turned out to be nothing, not worried about upsetting anyone, giving warnings or promoting unfounded conspiracies.

Jesus, they're doing a job to keep the country safe. Some people honestly have no clue.

They wouldn't be saying that if a 767 went through the front of their house [xx(]

Awwww diddums small town! You need to grow a sense of humour and grow to learn the RAF are doing a sterling job. Upsetting the locals is a necessary evil.....better to be woke up than blown up!

Old Boot I was at the scramble end in the CRC, it's a split second decision to make by the boss with the big Red phone. A few people kicking off about being woken up is the least of the Aircrews worries.

What difference does that make boot? And why are you ignoring the fact I’m not bothered about the walking up, just about your parochial attitude to it?

I slept through it, didn't hear a thing.

The one in the summer was brilliant. Scary at first when we though there'd been an explosion, but very cool when we found out what it was a few mins later.

BOOOOOOM!!!!

I FEEL THE NEED... THE NEED FOR SPEED! [8D]

Norfolk....I was the SNCO ON 24/7 shift. Buzzer going was sort of a highlight in what otherwise was a dull day! I used to bring my pitching wedge and some golf balls and practice hitting imaginary targets half way up the HAS wall......sometimes I'd accidentally chip straight over the HAS completely and spend ages looking for it! I also spent an eternity watching the fish in the EWS by the back door......very therapeutic. Occasionally I'd try catching one with some bread on an open safety pin.....close but no cigar! [;)]

Old Boot, bet you had a clean car but not as good at Volleyball as a certain trade with a fire engine. My last years a as Snec as a Tactical Radar Operator which would have been heavily involved with QRA activity. Just small cogs.

As was the motto when I did the gulf.....

"One team, one fight" [^]

Or as we used to say to the yanks...."one team, wanna fight???" 😁
