Great performance last night - the fella has done almost 2500 gigs and keeps delivering. It was a paired back evening. First 45 mins he played songs and told the stories from his new album. He then brought the band on and walked us through his life of unhappy love, addiction and depression. Great to hear him discuss his demons openly. Finished off with 4 or 5 bangers with full audience participation. Final song has the wonderful call to arms..... ‘Be more kind my friends, try to be more kind’ Tickets available for Newcastle tonight Link: |

Seen at Hartlepool a few years ago with the son in law. He was pretty good, his audience was very millennial and felt out of place tbh His fans all seem to copy actions when prompted...windscreen wiper thing![]() Refreshing lack of divvies holding up phones at that gig, which was a plus. |

There's something endearing about the man and his music. The fact each gig is a communal singalong is a wonderful thing. |

One thing is for sure TT - I messed up his target demographic last night. He is just a thoughtful endearing fella. Didn’t bother with any political nonsense but did say some really simple stuff - No one knows what’s going to happen so stop saying ‘you do’ And, on that basis, its ok to say you may be scared about the future |

Big fan of his since Million Dead days. Not into the new album though, his poorest to date I think. |

Massive back catalogue... Start with... ‘I knew prufrock before he was famous’ And, my favourite ‘The ballad of me and my friends’ And go on from there. There is an album on Spotify called Songbook which is pretty comprehensive |

One of, if not my favourite artist. Webby to see him earlier in the year at Wellington. Best gig I've ever been to. Was outstanding. |

Love him too - discovered him when he opened the London Olympics opening ceremony! Seen him a couple of times - at Victorious festival and an epic gig in Bournemouth this year. - both times with my 10 years old daughter, who is a big fan.. Long live the queen - amazing track! Brings a tear every time nearly., hearing about his good friend Lex. ‘Recovery’ helped get me through a very tough time. |

Recovery and photosynthesis are his biggest hits so far in a long career in music. He is very good, many- even the great man himself suggested that he is the modern Billy Bragg. |

He’s good mates with BB and they’ve played together a a fair few times. He confesses however, that he’d rather be compared to Bruce Springsteen, than BB. I like the way each album is very different. He’s come a long way since Thatcher Fcuked The Kids. He’s just said the other day that he’s just discovered Idles and thinks they’re amazing (he’s right).. but why can’t I now stop singing “a heathen, from Eaton” ![]() |

I know it's a show ending crowd pleaser but I'm just not a fan of photosynthesis. Reasons to not be an idiot is a fave of mine. Parnaby has a great shout as well. Long live the queen is such a heartfelt song, sad but celebratory, like a lovely wake. The line "just now you'll have to dance for the two of us" gets me every time. |

Cooper6711, you seem to favour a Tory victory in your political posts. How on Earth do you reconcile that with your 'Be More Kind' tattoo? |

Cooper6711 Posted on 03/12/2019 12:00 Frank Turner |
I got the tattoo in reference to an event that was happening in my life at the time. To be fair you shouldn’t look to deep into my political posts. I’m basically a labour leave voter. Don’t feel I can support them for the 1st time ever due to that. I’m blind sided by Brexit I’ll admit that. Whether I vote conservative is a another ball game |

Piggy things aren’t always black and white. You can like be more kind and be a Tory voter or a brexiter. The duality of man! |

Fair enough Cooper, I don't agree with it but I can understand your reasoning. Small-town, I suppose even tories can strive to be more kind, but it's from a pretty poor starting point. If your policies are putting more people into poverty and creating wretched lives, then the odd act of kindness in conceding a putt at golf, donating a prize at the rotory club or by resisting the urge to set fire to a tramp hardly balances the damage that they do to those who can least cope with it. |

You don't 'agree' with someone you don't even know having a tattoo that means something personal? Weird. |

Everyone has the right to be wrong. If you believe in creating a kinder, fairer society then supporting the current Conservatives is your right but it's also totally inconsistent with your beliefs |

Parnaby,it's the prioritising of brexit over getting rid of the tories that I don't agree with, not the choice of tattoo. |
