When he does finally go, you can spend a long time reflecting on his time as Chairman/owner and realise he was the best custodian the club could have had

Alternatively, a new chairman / owner could come in and do a superior job than what Gibson has done / is doing.

You simply don’t know what will happen.

By all means wear your blinkers with pride, but some of us commend him for his role up to 2006, marvellous. We also commend him for his support financially up to 2016.

Since we were promoted he has had a mare and is asking Woodgate to perform miracles with a limited squad and hardly any support. Some people just don’t live in the here and now, clearly. Nobody can totally rely on the past. The here and now is what provides the foundations for the future. I am quite critical of him and if he makes better decisions than of late i will be realistic. Realism is in short supply on here it seems..

When I look back The AP were good days but we were an abject failure as a football club.I sometimes wonder about some of these long time supporters if they have been there, as most of the time it was an empty AP with very minor success, and even so it was Gibbo that changed the landscape.

Brought me the happiest times as a Boro fan, breathtaking at times. I do remember what a pile of Shoite the club was most of the time.
Back him with loyalty? That's the least I owe him..... And he's from Middlesbrough too.

Why are some people so one dimensional in their opinions of Gibson? I am massively grateful for his enormous contribution to the club over the years and it is without doubt that he wraps a financial blanket round the club.
Football for clubs like Middlesbrough isn’t a viable business anymore as clubs like Middlesbrough are chasing the dream at the risk of being financially crushed. In the past 10 years, the business end of football has gone silly and the reality is without serious sponsorship clubs like Middlesbrough are just no longer viable and certainly risk their competitiveness. The FFP rules do not sit in line with the reality of investment required today for buying proven players.

However, I do believe that Gibson shouldn’t be immune to criticism. We listen to the finger being pointed at managers who spunked millions up the wall on players. However, this is the guy who chose to back these managers at that level, this is the man who went on the radio saying we would smash the league. It is safe to say the club his paying heavily for their financial strategy and it is us the fans who are left frustrated in all of this.

Us fans are allowed to be frustrated and still be grateful for his commitment to the club.

Pray tell us who are the people that don't go?

1. Do you mean don’t ever go
2.. Only go to a few games a season
3. Go to most games but may miss the odd one through illness or holiday
4. Only go to home games

Or any other combination you care to name. Tell me T_T do you attend all games home and away or just the ones you choose? You can tell me, I won’t tell, honest [;)]

Others that claim to attend as often as they say can but say it is hardwork due to living away from Teesside often in places that means travel isn't as safe/easy in winter months. Some saying cossing the North Yorkshire Moors can be difficult from the likes Whitby, Scarborough etc in winter because the roads are dangerous and you can get stuck away from home.

Wasn't it mostly sourced from a Germen company?

Something to with time and the steel requirements because of the as built drawing requirments and not being able to source a supple in UK that allowed the time for company to build stadium on time.

Those who says Gibbo is a minnow- hold that thought. If that is fact- and I remain unconvinced that is the case in this division- there is a greater need to act in a shrewd manner.

I struggle to see this type of regime pre this season being acted. He has been a disaster for years now.

It's not made up. I remember many old post from yeas ago on here and the old rivals site with users using these reasons for not being able to go to games.

Many others that attend the games have confirmed that do suffer these issues.

As for me attending it not that hard to get they from Stockton.

I have had season ticket since Awesome Park and was going give it up because didn't like what was happening with the game in general and the way the Boro were following in that trend.

I like to support a club that has a local identity / connection and the club to be connecting to local community.

‘You don’t know what you’ve got’

Let’s take a look at what we’ve got

Squad worth £60m in the bottom 3

At least 3 players brought in for a total of £20m we will be lucky to get 1/5th of the money back from

Multiple senior players out of contract in the summer being asked to renew on lower wages

Yet another rookie manager thrown under the bus

A recruitment team who have consistently failed in multiple transfer windows, not only in getting deals done but also getting any kind of value for money.

No wins in 9 games

One of the leagues lowest scorers despite having a £28m strike ‘force’

There seems to be a cadre of posters who believe someone or some entity could do a better job than Steve Gibson, doubtless, they will get together and form a consortium to make him an offer or, perhaps not, and they might just keep hoping some billionaire from Asia, the Gulf, USA or elsewhere will see the investment potential (sorry I mean love of the club) in Middlesbrough FC.

I may be an absolute idiot but I don't see this happening. So in the absence of a "white Knight / XXXXXXhouse" saviour is a "fans"consortium in the offing and how much will it raise and what is the offer to SG to sell the club to them?

I for one hope SG stops supporting the club to the tune of millions per annum so we can all see how rosy the future is in such a scenario.

“Under FFP regulations it doesn't matter if u have 10p u can only spend what u earn”

I think Derby, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday fans may disagree they all benefitted from rich benefactors.

However, why people assume that criticism of Gibson equates to the assumption of wanting him replaced is far fetched. His decision making since Eindhoven is not a great read, the only notable plus was Karanka’s time and we have in part kenyon to thank for that. Since promotion the decisions have been truly woeful. That does not mean he needs to go, he may be better moving sidewards and employing someone to run the club on his behalf though, a kenyon type.

I think it is really silly when posters use the “are you going to invest the funds instead’ lines. People are allowed to have an opinion. Most share their thoughts out of care or passion and not other imagined reasons. One assumes some folk don't have views or opinions on anything they don’t fully determine for themselves as that would be hypocritical otherwise
