Non League potential players

We signed Lewis Wing from non league Shildon. Is there anymore out there worth a punt on? I watch Stockton Town a lot and would recommend Adam Nicholson (tall, centre half, captain)and maybe Kevin Hayes (right wing, small and quick).

There must be a few more knocking around who could play at a higher level?

We currently shop in the 3rd Division yet even they can't make the first team, so what will non League players bring to the party?

Kev Hayes has been on trial at Bradford and didn't get kept on and he didn't really get a game at Spennymoor. Great at this level but not Championship I don't think.
I think Tom Coulthard is the classy defender at Stockton. Got real pace for a centre half.

Me. I played Stockton Sunday League at right back about 40 years ago. I'm pretty sure that if I played up front I would a better job than the current incumbents.

Seriously, I agree with the sentiment, there has to a Bernie Slaven out there somewhere. He doesn't have to even be as good as Bernie, just better than what we have.

The better players that you play with makes it easier to play. Their passing and movement is better so you get better options.

I agree about Tom Coulthard too. Him and Adam have a great partnership at Stockton.

Played against both Adam and Tom both very good players, Tom probably the better of the 2, don't think they could step up to this level but could probably do national league to league 2. So a couple of years they could be playing for boro [:D]

I recently went with a mate to hartlepool and I was quite impressed with kabamba lad, held it up and chested balls down to teammates keeping the flow going forward. Thought hevwoukd be perfect foil forvassombalonga

Definitely agree that there are players at that level and one or 2 leagues above that could definitely play at our level. Young lad at Whitby, Andrew May very good.

Kabamba came from non league, went to Pompey but got released after being on loan at colchester where he didn't score and ended up on the bench. Had a very ordinary season last year at Haven't & Waterlooville in the National league and is now at pools..wouldnt get a kick in the championship, he is miles away, will be lucky to stay National league

As with any player you watch them once, on a good day and they look good...guess that's what scouts are for to assess them over longer term

I think the tale of local lad Danny Johnson should be a good indicator of the step up between non-league and the higher echelons.

9 goals in 21 games for Synners, a ridiculous 51 goals in 48 games the following season for Guisborough Town and a respectable 44 goals in 110 appearances at a higher level for Gateshead, but not really ripped up any trees when given the chance at Cardiff, Tranmere, Stevenage, Motherwell and now Dundee.

Danny has a great work ethic and actually still looks a goal threat whenever I watch him play, but it's obviously the step up is very difficult.
