I remember Capio once telling me that this board has made him right wing because he wanted to 'annoy the lefties'. He also told me I'd been brainwashed into being a lefty by this board. I'd been a leftist well before I started using this board.

No.

"Or just had their views more deeply entrenched?"

My views are anything but entrenched. I class myself as politically agnostic, in that I don't believe in the mantras of either of the big two political parties. Personally I think we'd be far better off if more people were prepared to be flexible with their views (and I include politicians in that), rather than deciding to spend a lifetime supporting one ideology or the other. In a world that's infinite shades of grey, reducing everything to a choice between black and white doesn't seem to have got us very far.

It is a given that anything written on here from any character isn't going to change anybody's mind politically. What would change my mind is the manifesto and party policies and whether they would bring me benefit or not.

Personalities are a side show not least because all three leaders of the main parties I have little time for.

I'd say that some of the heartless, selfish and often downright horrible posts on here over the years have pushed my to become more of an advocate of genuine socially democratic policies than I was when I was younger.

It does seem at times, that certain board characters think they have the power to influence the thinking of other board members, by repeatedly posting their own political views.

None of it has swayed me.

I would be surprised if a single person has changed their political allegiance from reading the "expert opinions" on this board!

Not because of anything on here, but Iíve definitey changed who Iíll vote for.

Iíve previously voted for the Conservatives, good for business and all that Jazz and I didnít mind Cameron.

However also a remainer, and canít abide BJ JRM and co.

Will be voting for Labour / Lib Demís, just not sure which. Itís unfortunately going to have to be a tactical vote and one focussed around one objective.

If a party gets in power who can stop Brexit, I personally feel regardless of policies, itís going to have more of a positive impact, than if we crash out!

Iíve also started to believe there needs to be regular changes in which party runs the country, to stop it becoming too entrenched in one ideology.

Yes, I realised as I was holding the wrong opinions and was because of the right-wing media (according to the experts on here), so now I only read The Skwawkbox and think the right way. [^]

I do find out more by reading the odd post on here.

For example I was not aware of the number of EU projects in the Tees Valley there is/was until I read about them on here.

I also became aware of the depth of issues to do with Food banks in the Teesside. I was shocked to hear there were 7 in Redcar.

I do believe in being careful with cash if you are spending other people's money, but there is a limit when people can't feed themselves in a rich country like the UK.

If anything it has made me a bit more angry, but that can come out in strange ways, not necessarily voting for the establishment types be it right or left.

Redworzel there is a difference of course between reading the odd genuinely informative contribution and changing oneís political view.

Youíre right though. There is an odd gem of info if you look hard enough but itís hard to see the wood through the forest of dross on here.

100% Conservative. Most Yarmies are Conservative.

It is a makor reason why Yarm is the poster boy for Teesside.

In my lifetime, I've voted for all 3 main political parties. I choose to give my vote to the party I think is best for the country at this time.
Entrenched views, held despite the horror of some parties current policies can only damage the country and for what purpose? Just to say you voted for the winning side?

The last election for the 1st time in my life I voted Labour, purely because I thought Corbyn offered something different.
Since then , him or senior members of his shadow cabinet have labelled me thick ,ignorant and racist simply because I disagree with some of their views .
I wont be voting Labour this time.

No, not because of anything posted on here. I am nowadays though politically homeless. i was in my younger days labour through and through.

Bizarrely on here, because I donít trust Corbyn, some of his urban Rottweilers have called me a tory and other unpleasant names. All they do with their name calling is ensure my thinking is indeed correct.

I guess my political home is nearest the Labour Party, but policy is not everything, personality comes into the equation as you have to trust the leadership and I do not. The rottweilers who refer to blaming the media for my view are bereft of thought. I use my eyes and ears to listen, watch and research, i do not just blindly believe the bits that fit my narrative and discard those that do not. Everything I believe in points toward Labour, but I loathe Corbyn, Abbott and do not trust McDonnell much either. I will vote tactically if i can, which might let Corbyn in through the back door, but I will never vote for a party with a duplicitous leader, whatever the policies they stand for.

CtC out of interest, what percentage of Teessiders do you think are prepared to vote that way based on what you've read on here?

There's probably about a dozen posters on here that push a Tory agenda and at least 2 of them are posters that come on here solely on a wind-up.

Teesside has elected very few Tories in all the seats up for grabs, so the statement seems to hold very little truth.

100,000 or so in Teesside, I think that's a significant amount. You don't, we'll have to agree to disagree.

In the vote for brexit possibly as the majority vote was for leave but in a general election Teesside still tends to be Labour.

Do you think that is all going to change in this election based on the opinion of a dozen people on here?
