Boro will stick to their plan

MIDDLESBROUGH are not going to be sacking Jonathan Woodgate. Not today, not on Saturday, no matter what happens in what could prove a difficult afternoon at QPR, and not during the forthcoming international break, even though that tends to be the time when these things happen.

The correct decision. he has a squad decimated with injuries and suspensions and lost vast experience in the summer. Stick with him 100% We are better than people are making out and we will get results once players get fit.

If they do, then we will be relegated and it’ll be entirely down to Steve Gibson and his stubbornness.

10-12,000 crowds next season, people are absolutely fed up. I haven’t spoken to a single fan who’s given up their season ticket who regrets it, and thousands more will follow them in the summer.

"he has a squad decimated with injuries and suspensions"

That's just an excuse, and the club and Woodgate will use it. However, we were awful when he had a full squad to chose from, so it doesn't wash.

We are just delaying the inevitable in the desperate hope that we can get a couple of quick wins to lift us out of the bottom three. It's not going to happen though.

At what point should Woodgate be sacked?

For many it is already now.

He's got injuries now. That doesn't excuse the last 2 months of pretty much having a fit squad.

Also it's been reported that we have 9 out. You would say 3-4 of them have hardly been vital or even first team.

I don't know how much of this report is 'nailed on?'. If it is then I'm genuinely worried that we will just stick with it until Jan and see how it goes in the transfer window. The last 2-3 suggests it's not really making any difference.

I know he's only had 15 or so games and if we were sat mid table of seeing positive signs of change then I'd be all for giving him time. The issue is we have regressed so badly from last season that I just don't see where the next goal or win will come from.

We could be well adrift by the 1st of Jan[sad]

"That's your opinion rico"

Yep, mine and most others.

Your support of Woodgate is admirable, but its also very badly misguided.

There are literally no examples where a manager has his team playing so badly, with so little confidence, creating so few chances, scoring so few goals and getting so few points, and they turn it around.

Woodgate is not going to change that, and if we continue as we are then we are going down.

"I don't know how much of this report is 'nailed on?'"

None of it is. There are no quotes, its just best guess by a Journo, and a mackem one at that. It is just what he expects to happen. There's absolutely no substance to the article whatsoever.

Unfortunately he's probably right, as I can't see Gibson sacking Woodgate until the new year at the earliest, by when it could be far too late.

Incorrect. We are creating glaring opportunities. Our luck will turn. I am very confident in us turning it around and finishing around 15th which is where I predicted start of the season. Happy with that. Solid season and a summer of change.

I wouldn't say we are creating many chances. I would say at best 4 really good chances in the last 3 games (Fletcher WBA/Huddersfield/Fulham and Britt Derby).

The issue is all 4 were at 0-0. So maybe they could have changed the game.

Its pretty much one clear cut chance per game.... Its hardly creating 'loads'.

That said some have very much come under the 'how did he miss' bracket[sad]

In fact if someone had a time machine and came back from next May an said, “hey guess what, Boro didn’t win any more games all season” that wouldn’t surprise me either. The club is in its worst state since 86 imo

The two home games following the international break vs Hull and Barnsley will be crucial. Gibson should give him a target of at least 4 points from those two games or he's gone.

I still think Woodgate lost his bottle and gave up on his plan too quickly.

Looking back now, although the Sheff Wed performance was disappointing, it was largely due to Ayala not starting and Sheff Wed exploited that. I don't think they would have scored at least 2 of the 4 goals they scored if Ayala had have started that game.

Before the Sheff Wed game we had that run of 4 games unbeaten and there were signs there that there was something to build on. We lost to Sheff Wed and he's been chopping and changing ever since and just completely lost his way.

It was a hell of a lot more than 'disappointing', it was a disgrace. If a Pulis team had played like that he would have been bounced out of town.

Derek, don't get me wrong I want Woodgate out, but I do think things could have been different that day if Ayala had have started.

If you think back to the goals Sheff Wed scored that day, 2 of them came from high balls into the box which we couldn't deal with. They exploited Frys' weakness in particular, but I think there's every chance if Ayala had have started we would have dealt comfortably with Sheff Weds' tactics.

All Woodgate needed to do in the next game was replace either Fry or Shotton with Ayala.

Our best periods as a club have come when we have had a settled management team.

Stan Anderson, Jack Charlton, John Neal, Bruce Rioch, Bryan Robson, Steve McLaren, Aitor Karanka, all given time to build the club up.

Recent times we have had too much change, too many managers, even an interim in Pulis.

It hasn’t worked.

Only an idiot keeps doing something which isn’t working and continually changing the manager is not working for the Boro.

Honestly thought why has Gibson mid managed the clubs finances like this is beyond me and he is making the fans stuffer he should never of allowed Monk to spend what he did same as Pulis. He should of spread the revenue over 5 seasons not one. As we are litteraly running the club as boom or bust they really is no stable plan is there?

We need at least 3/4 new players to come in. Theres no point sacking Woodgate yet as that'll put the club in to further uncertainty.

We need to sell the soon to be out of contract players for what we can get .
Shotton £1m
Clayton £1m
Ayala £3m
Johnson £500k
Howson £1m
Gestede give away.
Friend coaching role
£6.5m to re invest , it goes a long way if you buy the right ones .
I would hope to keep Randolph but any bid for him will be seriously considered , as will bids for
Assombalonga
Fletcher
McNair
Saville
Fry .
Lots of work to do, and huge turn over , but it needs to happpen , we can't let them run out their contracts and leave on a free , and also they will be on the beach by Feb 1st if they are allowed to stay so will drag any morale down .

It’s very apparent that the players are NOT being coached properly.
