How many points needed for safety?

Championship: Points Needed To Stay Up Since 2005/06
2014/15 42
2013/14 45
2012/13 55
2011/12 49
2010/11 43
2009/10 48
2008/09 47
2007/08 53
2006/07 47
2005/06 43
AVERAGE 47.2

50 points with 12 on the board

1.0869 points per game needed.

Win and a draw next two games puts us on track for a 46 point finish with a third of the season gone.

Two loses and our average 0.75 points per game leaves us on track for a 34.5 point finish.

Win our next two and we're our average would take us to a 51 point finish.

Barnsley look XXXXXXed, but Stoke won't stay down there long imo

Am struggling to see three worse teams at the moment...especially as Wigan have started getting results...probably three from Barnsley, Luton, Reading and ourselves?

Irrelevant.

With Woodgate as manager we won’t get them.

Over and after Christmas, with it’s of games in a short period, you need a big squad as that where you get injuries and teams can slide down a bit.

We are down there already!

But that’s when I expect Gibson to make a change, January, if we are still bottom 3 or looking dodgy

Until then we are stuck with Spudgate and his inane press quotes and laid insistence that people ‘stand up and be counted’ What does that actually mean to a striker I wonder?

More recently?

2018-19 41 points
2017-18 42 points
2016-17 51 points and GD
2015-16 41 points

I posted a week or so ago that we need to be thinking of number of wins.
Home wins are key, which is why saturday's stalemate v 10 men is frustrating.
Surely we can win another 10 matches this season to stay up?

Before the season began I was planning my first ever trip to a Boro game - the last home game of the season against Cardiff.
In my mind it was going to be a heaving almost full stadium as we got the win that clinched promotion.

Reality sets in ... it may be the loss that clinches relegation. [sad]

I'm still coming over, and will buy some heavily discounted merchandise to bring back to Oz with me. [|)]

What were you on?

No way was that even a remote chance with Woodgate in charge.

Yes, we can't score and always look likely to concede. By the time the window opens again we could be adrift.

The clean sheets isn't overly the issue. We are not getting whacked every week..

The big issue is not scoring goals. Its not rocket science to say if you don't score you don't win games. It simply means we could concede 1 a game and still lose.

This isn't a new thing thing. Only 4 teams scored less than us last season and 2 of those went down. We did nothing to address this other than bringing in a league 1 winger for 375k.

It's the same miss firing forwards (minus Hugill) who couldn't hit a barn door last year.

So will we get enough points? I really struggle to see where or when we can win a game or score a few.

It's a tough old slog with a paper thin squad and no money.

Anyone who has been a supporter through previous relegation seasons recognises the similarities and thinks relegation is almost certain unless there is a radical change to the management and some funds for players who might create or score an occasional goal which robably is going to happen so look forward to trying to regroup in the 1st division.
