Trump and Turkey

Anyone else think that Trump will have a bulging bank account somewhere, full of Turkish lira?
This is certainly an unexpected volte-face.

This is absolutely criminal. Thousands of Kurds have died fighting ISIS on behalf of the west. They weren't even the Kurds biggest enemy. The Turks were. But the west persuaded them that they would keep Turkey at bay so long as they were fighting ISIS. This they did. And now the US and the west have abandoned them.

All the ISIS being kept in Kurdish prisons will no doubt be let free as every Kurd will be needed to fight the Turks. No spare capacity for prison guards. And then ISIS will be attacking European cities again.

Shocking.

Commander [^] it's scary isn't it. It's almost as if he wants ISIS to get back in the game. Fcuk knows who advises him, probably Putin. The man is deranged.
I liked his 'in my great and unmatched wisdom' tweet. He sounds like the Wizard of Oz.

Further illustrates Trump's narcissistic personality and the fact that he's dumb as a post.

He's most probably done this on the spur of the moment to detract from his impending impeachment but in doing so has really f*cked off some of his usually sycophantic supporters in the Senate like Lindsey Graham who will need to back him strongly in the coming months.

he wants to go into the election with no foreign entanglements. So he can now have the message (to his base) that he brought the boys home (all 50 of them). He probably doesn't give an eff about ISIS and attacks on Europe. They don't need a caiphate for that anyway.

He has probably also worked out (or been assured) that (his mate) Putin, Erdogan and Assad can take of any ISIS resurgence. The Kurds? They don't vote in 2020.

I am in Turkey now - I hope he got his money in USD. Turkish Lira is not the best way to take a bribe.

Apparently the Kurds didn't help us at Normandy! Neither did Fred Trump by all accounts.

Most of the US public want the US out of any wars — so he’s in a no win situation. He said today “so when does the war end? — 10years or 200years?— ok he’s out spoken but he has a point — US has been the world police for goodness how long — perhaps it’s time the world starts to play its part. British government arguably did the same in Northern Ireland— sometimes there needs to be tough choices— perhaps the UN needs to sort it out — that’s why the UN has an army.

I’m only stating something that most Americans believe — moreover if you go to certain websites it’ll give you actual deployment numbers — make what you want of it.

Even by Trumps standards this has to go down as unspeakable act of betrayal.
As someone said there was only 50 US troops stopping the turks attacking the kurds.
He has the blood of hundreds if not thousands of Kurds on his hands. The misery inflicted on these people will be horrendous.

On top if it all Trump used the Kurds to get rid of ISIS.

Now he thinks he can even it all up with sanctions. The mighty dollar.

So why was Obama criticised so much by the right for scaling down foreign intervention?

Latest reporting is that he asked Rex Tillerson (then Secretary of State) to help in the case of a Turkish gold trader who, oddly enough, had employed Rudy Guiliani as his lawyer. The case he was fighting was over the Turkish trader illegally dealing with Iran and breaking the sanctions imposed on them. This was at the same time as Mike Flynn was employed in the Whitehouse. Flynn of course is facing prison as a result of acting as a foreign agent for (drum roll) Turkey. Tillerson later quit stating that he and Trump didn't get on and that he'd had to tell Trump that a lot of the things he wanted to do were against the law.

The whole Trump presidency is probably a catalogue of criminal activity and hopefully, now that there's two whistleblowers over the Ukraine issue and one regarding interference with the IRS have come forward, more people who've turned a blind eye to his wrongdoing might have a pang of conscience.

Yet we’re willing to throw our country off the cliff to land in his arms.

The mistake from a humanitarian perspective was not being able to get the UN to step in to fill the void.

The west and the Kurd’s had a common enemy in ISIS. However it is the PKK and not Kurd’s per se that the Turks are targeting.

The PKK are considered by the UK and others, but not the UN, as it is supported by China and Russia, to be a terrorist organisation is the threat that Turkey is trying to limit.

There is a total misunderstanding of our policy in Syria and the region

This should be seen in a wider context of what 'our' interests are which are dictated by our allies namely Turkey and Saudi Arabia and anti-Iran

ISIS has been partially beaten by the Syrians (aided by Iranian backed forces) and Russian air power and the Kurds in the north east. The contribution of coalition forces has been hugely overblown and there is even evidence to suggest intelligence agencies esp Turkey, Israel, S Arabia and USA actually provided ISIS with logistical assistance (look it up for yourself)

ISIS has now been pushed back so the purpose of this is to create an area where they can re-group - definitely those ISIS fighters held currently by the Kurds will be freed and used to patrol the 'safe zone' and fight the kurds and also harass Assad's Syrian forces - and forcibly settle the 4 million Syrian refugees that currently live in Turkey

Believe or not Trump is not stupid - the USA has been (with Turkey and S Arabia and Israel) supporting ISIS and what is happening now is entirely consistent with this. Obama and Bush before started the policy of supporting terrorist fanatics to counterbalance Iran's interests and Hilary Clinton was even more willing than Trump to continue it (I have no doubt had Clinton been elected and not Trump we would currently be at war with Iran)

To say this helps Putin and is some kind of conspiracy with him is totally ludicrous

Kurds have always been played which is why they don't have their own homeland

So our interest is not to protect the good guys, as we haven't for over a century, and work with the partly bad and really bad guys against some more really bad guys, with the good guys taking the fall? They may be 'your' interests, but not 'my' interests.

Wouldn't be what I want but look at all our middle east policy of recent times - it is in effect an extension of Saudi anti-Iran foreign policy

The Saudis and our intelligence services have been assisting ISIS for many years...

The one thing for sure from 100 (or 1000 years) of Middle East policy, we never get it right.

Arms sales and oil shouldn't determine our foreign policy (or religion as it was 1000 years ago).

Trump is the "quintessent” time-traveller who purchased lots of shares and investments therein- and in companies/conglomerates that have exploited and raped the earth (AND NOT JUST environmentally etc).
his father was called Frederick Christ Trump, and his mother was called Mary.

Trump is your reversal = setting up judgement of and on YOURSELVES.

pass the time in your condemnation while spending less than 1 minute actually looking at yourselves.
That's when you find out that you're better off makin' sure your soul's alright (see link)

Trump is Your judgement whilst spending this short time on planet earth - sat in front of a computer/tv screen, and beholding your devils vices = devices.
