Good job he’s going as he would be booted out shortly if reports appearing in the news are true.

Fury as EU Parliament chief reveals he met Commons Speaker John Bercow to discuss their 'shared' desire to to avoid No Deal Brexit

surely that would make him more popular in the house where the vast majority oppose no deal?

Yeah. I'm not sure how sharing a sensible and commonly held belief it's such a bad thing.

I just saw it on sky news report - surprisingly its not their headline and they are not repeating it every 5 minutes on their twitter feed. It definitely wasn't in my mind Sortie - we will no doubt hear more on this in due course.

From about 4 minutes in - basically him and Bercrow cooking up an extension only on condition that we have a second referendum - predictable really but surely Bercrow should not be having such discussions if he is as neural as he claims.

Shocking really and entirely predictable, but will never get called out by the LWNJ's on this board. Him and Blair have been jockeying for pole position as chief un-doer of Brexit. May will take that title however once all is said and done, whether she wants it or not.

Seems pretty sensible.

the running of parliament and it's perceived legitimacy is tied intrinsically to the impartiality of the speaker. Bercow long ago crossed that Rubicon. I'm afraid in this instance your lack of impartiality is imprisoning you.l to the cult of hubris.

There is no such thing as ‘neutral’
The only question is has his own belief interfered with his role as speaker.

Those who dislike him will point fo his tweets from his holiday. Those who like him will say he has every right as speaker.

Take your pick

That implies he has to do what the party says in your mind rather than support back bencher's in their effort to do a jobs their constituents elected them to do.

if Bercow wishes to take sides then parties should put candidates against him in elections rather than standing unopposed.

the speakers credibility is based on his impartiality, just ask some previous speakers.

How do you think he got the job if he wasn't elected? Elected under Labour Government. Elected against the wishes of the leadership of the Labour and the Conservative parties.

Now, if he were re-elected unopposed don't you think that tells us the majority of MP's have confidence in him,

traditionally the speaker stands unopposed in his or her constituency during general elections out of respect for there impatiallity as speaker.
