The OP may not be aware of two bits of trivia about that song

1. It spawned a football song. City fans in the Kippax used to sing Oh Franny Oh Franny Franny Lee Oh Franny Lee to the tune.

2. Originally written in France for the French entry to the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest it wasn’t picked in the end.
