Why hasn't this appeared yet?

Burns to face Cummins. And he survived.

I guess because most casual cricket fans think this game means nothing because Australia have retained the Ashes, when in reality it still means a great deal. 2-2 draw is much better than a 3-1 defeat in the test championship, and the Aussies still haven't won a series here since 2001 (as things stand).

Echo what Atypical said.

If we pull a win out of the hat, then this summer has been brilliant.

A World cup win and to avoid defeat against the Aussies in the Ashes. Not many other summers can top that[^]

Happy to see Curran in the line up — I heard he was injured previously— too bad that he couldn’t have been ready for the 4th test as he would have made a difference. Overall it’s been an even series imo with the exception of Smudge of course. But let’s face it would you have given up the World Cup triumph for the ashes — no. Ben Stokes took the plaudits for the 4th and rightly so —- the 5th is pointless but let’s hope we can even the series— just so we can shut those adolescents from down under... up.

Makes me laugh that him ,Broad , and that w#nker cnut Prior forced KP out of international cricket because he always put himself 1st , what a hypocrite.

there today. great atmosphere and cricketing day, best chant? towards the close and after many drinks. "if you've been convicted, stand up", being South London, they all stood up. Then told the group of "convicts" (Aussies) next to them to stand up. They did. Then 6 beers and a carafe of wine arrived for them 5 minutes later.

"Just think if Anderson had thought about the team instead of himself, Archer would have played in the 1st test and things could have been so different. "

If I recall Archer was returning from a side strain himself and wasn't risked. He needed a first class game to get him up to match fitness for Lords. So if Anderson hadn't played at Edgbaston Archer may not have done so either.

Just rolled in after a superb day at The Oval. Weather incredible and beating down on us in the Peter May stand all day.

First the little cameo by Stuart Broad in the first hour then the task of getting ten Aussie wickets. Labuschagne's stumping gave belief and when Smith went and despite Wade's last stand resistance they were never going to do it we felt (despite our resident Uncle pessimist stating he still fancied the Aussies at 6 weeks down[:D])

Well done England and that brings the curtain down on a summer of great sport for me. World Cup and nearly winning it against England in the final and a great Ashes series.
